RCB pips DD in Super Over - what strategy to send Ben Rohrer ahead of Sehwag !!!

More than IPL, the gold rate is most talked about. From Rs.2973 per gram of 22 ct gold [22240 for 8 gms], it dipped to Rs.2441/- on Tuesday evening.  In last 5 days alone, the yellow metal has dipped by unimaginable Rs.2552/- per sovereign, something unimaginable even a month ago.   As a result more people are visiting Gold jewelers and purchasing more…….  and I have Cricket connection here too.

There is much of Aussie dominance ~ Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting are not in the thick, not making runs ~ but captain sides…… have you heard of Ben Rohrer and Kedar Jadhav.

The match between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers had all elements of fickleness ~ both the teams contrived to lose …….. from a very easy 129/2 in 16, RCB contrived to make a mess ~ it was Super Over where perhaps the strategy did DD in…

Delhi started brightly with Sehwag and Warner but lost their way in the middle.  Some runs from Kedar Jadhav and Irfan took them to 152/5.   Delhi used 5 bowlers – Ashish Nehra, Morne Morkel, Irfan Pathan, Umesh Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem; Irfan was costly @ 4/40….. After losing Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle early, RCB were cruising with Kohli and AB ~ the run out of AB opened the gate and RCB crumbled; from less than a run a ball, RCB needed 12 from the final over, bowled by Irfan. Rampaul slashed the first ball over point for six,  but still could not make it… the last ball there was a small fumble by the keeper and the batsmen crossed ushering in the super over. 

From Test Cricket, it got curtailed to limited overs ~ first 60; 55; 50 became standard ~ then T20 was born ~ the decider Super Over is virtually 6 ball each game…….. and in a team that veterans Sehwag and Mahela, the 3 nominated players were David Warner,  Ben Rohrer [who ?] and Irfan Pathan…  Ben Rohrer is an Aussie plays for New South Wales.  This left hander has not represented Aussie in Tests or ODIs…

As RCB chased in the original match, they had the chance to play first in Super Over… Chris Gayle and AB deVilliers walked in ~ Umesh Yadav bowled excellent 4 deliveries giving only 3 ~ the most dangerous played 2 of those deliveries taking a single of each… wait it was not all over, the 5th went for a huge six and 6th followed… now DD had to make 16 …. So no Sehwag,  David Warner and Ben Rohrer did.   Ravi Rampaul  bowled ~ Warner slashed the first ball into Gayle…. Pathan came in did score a six………… took a single off the 5th and in the only ball he faced Rohrer was bowled………..

Kedar Mahadav Jadhav is a batsman, who bowls off breaks and occasionally keeps wickets……… he has been keeping for Delhi in a couple of matches……in the final over, he was seen having removed his right hand glove and keeping with only one glove on, a move that was to allow him throw faster, should batsmen try to run a single when ball comes to the keeper…. Off the last delivery of Irfan, he fumbled a bit, batsmen ran a bye, he could recollect and throw the stumps down, but by then it was a run……..
