If you are a resident of
Triplicane and a regular to Sri
Parthasarathi Koil, for sure you would have seen this personality, stout,
well-built, thick glasses, walking firm steps.
For some years Triplicane (V House Branch) of State Bank of India functioned at the big house in 26 South Mada Street, closer to Sri Azhagiya Singar Sannathi. Its owner Mr Parikh is no more ! - he used walk around the mada veethis frequently and would be greeted by many. He was no ordinary person
Dr BR Parikh was a Medical professional, think he was an Anesthesiologist – the treatment that helps people feel no pain during surgeries. This Doctor was a surgeon for the Society
Very kind at heart and strong in words – he was practising at some hospitals in the city and ran his own clinic too at his house. He has made it his home since 1980s (or perhaps even earlier !!) - he was associated with Ramakrishna Mutt, doing service there and at his clinic offered free sugar check up lab in those days – 3 or 4 decades back
For few years he was a regular visiting Doctor at SYMA Medical centre in mid 1990s when the dispensary was functioning at the small premises opposite to Bharathiyar illam.
In mid 1980s a group of friends (Thadi cheenu being the leader) used to assemble at South Mada Streets and remember having spoken to Dr Parikh.
He breathed his last
yesterday (ie., 4.10.2023) – Triplicane mourns the passing away of
kind-hearted, service minded Doctor. If
you have more details of him, please do share !!
With grief – S Sampathkumar
