Good parenting - the nauseating cage fighting !!

Sure you watch your children, their habits, their likes and what they regularly do..

Are John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Rey Mysterio, Zack Ryder, Big Show, Undertaker, Wade Barret – household names  and terms like Choke slam, tombstone pile driver, FU, RKO, Spears  – the ones you often hear from your kids…

Modern day parents have myriads of worries and stresses at workplace and at home and enough to lose sleep and energy.  Parenting is not unique to mankind alone.  Birds have a pattern in their nest construction, keeping of eggs etc., in trying to protect their young ones away from predators and environmental factors such as rain and sun.   some birds swallow carry food and regurgitate it for their young ones.   Mammals feed their young.  Presumably, the length of time that adults will care for their young is determined by several factors. In most cases, the longer the care, the better the chances that the young will survive to maturity.

Parenting is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. Parents are often worried in ensuring that their kids grow up in the right way eschewing violence and other undesirable habits.  Kids once grown will be able to analyse and decide for themselves what is right and what is not !

There is something which the parents residing in Britain have thought worth of worrying.

World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) was an American mixed martial arts promotion. The events are regularly aired on many network televisions.  Its brutality is disturbing but more disturbing is the fact children  as young as  eight are filmed taking part in cage fighting... and it's  legal (based largely on a report from dailymail.co.uk)

The paper with concern mentions of disturbing footage that has emerged of a fight-night, youngsters who are not wearing head gear or padding are seen wrestling and slamming each other onto the canvas.    The report details that at one point one of the fighters appears to be crying, and qualified medical staff are rushed in to the ring to work out if they are fit enough to carry on.  The boys are not wearing padding or head gear as they grapple and slam each other into the canvas.  In the video shown, the young boy is seen  crying in the middle of a fight, and is then attended by medical experts who check if he can carry on with the bout.  Spectators are heard baying for the boys, as scantily clad women parade the fighting ground between rounds.

These reportedly were the images of an event at the Greenlands Labour Club in Preston, Lancashire, the tickets of which were completely sold out.  The message is whether one would like to wish the children to be  brought up and can it be a public spectacle to them bashing each other in such brutal manner ?

How can there be a defence that children have to learn to work through their aggression with discipline and control. Kids need to be taught sports, of competitiveness, of the ambition to win and to mentally be prepared for the losses that might occur… but would any good parent allow to such brutality getting developed in their children.  Children need to know martial arts and other forms of self defence – for bettering their physique and for developing a stronger mind – not for a brutal show down on the ring at a young age.

Boys need not play with teddy bears and need to have a strong grit and mental toughness but sure, this is not the way.

The names first mentioned are some of the names of the wrestlers of WWE – an American wrestling company, promoted under two brands known as Raw and Smackdown which have great following especially among children.
