Nethula, who - the leg spinner of New Zealand

His name was different and a search yielded interesting news !

The present One dayers between New Zealand and West Indies provides us no great reason for following despite the fact that Chris Gayle on come-back is making merry.   In ODI no. 3285 played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on 7th July 2012, Chris Gayle made merry making 125, sharing a 129 partnership with Marlon Samuels who also made a century.  WI made 315.  NZ  employed 8 bowlers and all of them went for runs – the main bowlers were Kyle Mills, Tim Southee, Nathan McCullum, TS Nethula with Nicol, Flynn and Williamson also turing their hand.

On a search found that Nethula had made his debut in the match against Zimbabwe on 6th Feb 2012 this year, which Kiwis won by a huge margin of 141 runs.  Nethula is 29 years old and bowls leg spin. He has risen from the ranks, making his debut in 2009-09 for Auckland and claiming wickets at lower level.   Earlier this year, he  was called up to the New Zealand squad for their limited-over series against Zimbabwe. He has represented NZ in 5 One dayers.  He himself expressed surprise when he was picked for the three-ODI series against Zimbabwe and stated that it would have been be less of a surprise, if he had been called up to the Test squad.  He stated that his aim was to cement his place in the National side and be a regular in New Zealand's winter tours to West Indies, India, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

The significance is – his full name is “Tarun Sai Nethula” – he was born in 1983 in Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh State in India.  Though he was born in India, he has played all his professional cricket in New Zealand, where his family moved when he was 12 years old.
