There are times when the
result is never in doubt but only the manner of execution is…………. – as estimated two billion people around the world
saw Jamaica's Usain Bolt blazed once again, burying down any talks of challenge……
this time it was still another Olympic record though his earlier Word Record
remained unscathed.
While it was telecast all
over the World, those at US could not, as NBC declined to broadcast the
historic moment live. It took the
controversial decision to hold off broadcasting the hugely popular event until
prime time, leaving millions of track and field fans outraged.
At London, there was no
challenge as Usain Bolt emphatically confirmed his status as the greatest
sprinter in history retaining his
Olympic 100m title in peerless fashion. He
was dogged by defeat and injury but ran the second fastest time ever to beat
fellow Jamaican and training partner Yohan Blake into silver and American
Justin Gatlin into bronze. The fastest
100M times revised after this event is :
9.58secs Usain Bolt in
Berlin 16 Aug 2009
9.63secs Usain Bolt in
London 5 Aug 2012
9.69secs Usain Bolt in
Beijing 16 Aug 2008
9.69secs Tyson Gay in
Shanghai 20 Sept 2009
9.71secs Tyson Gay in
Berlin 16 Aug 2009
- thrice it is Bolt all the
top 3 followed by Tyson Gay who also ran but finished at 4th
completing the race @ 9.80 secs; Yohan
Blake who came second was clocked at 9.75, a good 12 seconds more to that of
Bolt.
This should mark as one of
the brilliant races as the leader clocked 9.63 seconds, just 0.05 seconds
slower than his own staggering world record, leading a race in which seven men went under 10
seconds, with only the injured Asafa Powell failing to break that mark. There were some who cast doubts after the
false start that cost him his world title and aura of invincibility at the 2011
World Championships in Daegu and the subsequent losses to Blake.
Analysts say that Bolt did
not have the best of the starts but his gigantic strides helped….. At 40m
Gatlin - banned twice for doping offences - held a fractional lead but Bolt, as
so many times before, was about to pull away as no other sprinter in history
has. So, it is the sensational lightning striking again - Bolt defending his title as the fastest man on the
planet
