The restriction on sale of crackers
at crowded streets of Parrys Corner and the shifting to a new centralized place
– the ‘island grounds’ near War memorial – is a good measure.
The arrangements are tidily
made. There are 2 big blocks each
housing shops of various brands on each side, greeting and inviting the
customers. The sales have picked up –
there is ample space for parking and lot to choose from.
The rates have no doubt increased
over last year, but have not sky-rocketed and the shops have started attracted
customers, with only 3 days left for the Deepavali.

Brand values usually play either on the ignorance of the customer, or on the customer's desire for status. The shift away from brands is a positive sign, that either the customers are getting more knowledgeable or are unimpressed by status.
