Congratulations to : Arun Kumar Yadav, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandigarh on his winning doodle captioned ‘India : A prism
of multiplicity’.
We spend so many hours on Computer and not a
single day passes by without searching something [not
the searches of vehicle keys, purse, mobile and more material things when we
start for office !] in google. When
you do so – sure you would have noticed the space where you type your
search. The page is not plain. It has Google logo and many a times animated
expressions – which keep changing.
Google has had several logos since its renaming from BackRub. The
founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin had nicknamed their search engine ‘backrub’
as the system checked backlinks to estimate the importance of a site. These special logos, some designed by Dennis
Hwang, have come to be known as Google Doodles.
Google puts special doodles marking special
occasions and days. Google doodles on
homepage of the search engine has made it more fun and enjoyable for the users
and nobody ever anticipated that it would become so popular. Nowadays, many users excitedly anticipate the
release of each new doodle and some even collect them!
Recently, Google India launched its “Doodle 4 Google
competition 2012” contest open to school students across the
country for creation of doodles that will replace traditional Google
logo on Children's Day on November 14. The
entries were evaluated on : artistic merit, theme ‘unity in diversity’ and
supporting statement i.e., how the vision of the doodle is explained. The National
winner was decided by Google’s original doodler, Dennis Hwang and special
Celebrity Judges.
What you see above and live today [Nov
14th 2012] at www.google.co.in here is the winning entry which will receive a
certificate of achievement, a framed reproduction of the winning Google Doodle,
a tablet or an equivalent gadget and a Google goodie bag. All 12 Finalists will
each receive a certificate of Achievement and a goodie bag of Google
merchandise with a tablet or an equivalent gadget. There is no cash alternative
and the prizes must be taken as offered.
The winner is : Arun Kumar Yadav,
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandigarh and the winning
doodle had the caption : India
- A prism of multiplicity.
It reads - India
has diverse cultures, religions, languages, customs and traditions. This diversity
can be witnessed in enthusiasm for sports; unique folk culture; extraordinary
remarkable handicrafts; wide range of flora and fauna; agricultural practices
with worldwide farming output; unparalleled spices and cuisines... Such
colossal diversities represent Indias
oneness.
The doodle theme for 2012, was India ’s “Unity
in Diversity”. – the Judge, was 32-year-old Google Webmaster Dennis Hwang who
designed google logo. Since Dennis began celebrating and marking worldwide
events and holidays with his doodles in 2000, his work has been seen by
millions and reached cult status, with fans waiting with bated breath to see
his next creation, and even websites and blogs devoted to his work.
