Pink fluorescent Angel fish - on display at Taiwan

Fish is a treat to watch – either in its natural habitat of river, ponds etc., or in an aquarium.  Fish they say relieves stress and makes one feel fresh and calm….   Some raise fish as pets – at home, even in small tanks or even bottles .. guppies, gold fish, mollies, angel fish all make good aquarium fish – easy to keep and good to see.  

Sure have heard of ‘Angel fish’ - Pterophyllum is a small genus of freshwater fish from the family Cichlidae known to most aquarists as "Angelfish". These are  unusually shaped for cichlids with round bodies and elongated triangular dorsal and anal fins. This body shape allows them to hide among roots and plants, often on a vertical surface.  All Pterophyllum species form monogamous pairs. Eggs are generally laid on a submerged log or a flattened leaf. As is the case for other cichlids, brood care is highly developed.  

Angelfish  are considered popular tropical freshwater aquarium fish - one of the most beautiful specie of tropical freshwater aquarium fish. Angels often look outside their tank, they may react to various stimuli such as hands in an aquarium, persons standing nearby, and each specimen has its own personality.  They are believed to have originated in the Amazon River in South America.  They grow and live in large shoals.

These incredible images show the world’s genetically-engineered pink fluorescent fish as they are unveiled at an exhibition in Taipei. The fish, latin name Archocentrus nigrofasciatus var, glow brightly without the aid of ultraviolet lamps commonly placed in fish tanks.  They were unveiled at a news conference for the 2012 Taiwan International Aquarium Expo, to be held at Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall.  When light is produced by an organism using a chemical reaction it is called bioluminescence and it most commonly occurs in sea creatures.  The dazzling glow-in-the-dark display can be used for communication, to attract prey and to distract predators.

Amazing, but are the humans right in genetics mutation ?
