Sachin Baby signed up for Rajasthan Royals and dont blame Tendulkar...

Sometimes, we get carried away so easily by headlines…. Life is tough for some, while some get all the help and extraneous circumstances ensure their success ~ many a times, it is the lineage, that of parents do ensure success.  Do we remember or somebody know where Boddepalli Manoj Kumar or Shaibaaz Tumbi is doing in now or Do you remember Amol Muzumdar and his rare waiting feat…………….

IPL is big money and makes splash.. There was news of Rajasthan Royals announcing have announced the signing of four players for the upcoming season of the IPL and that includes Sachin baby…………….. it is popular perception that ‘selection of Team – at whatever level it be’ is never without prejudice and criticisms.  Ages back, it was stated that a local thug sent people in autos to influence in the selection in the State Team…. Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman have all retired under varying circumstances.. Sehwag has been dropped ………… some make a joke that Sachin would oneday open with his son Arjun Tendulkar, who has already been making news !

When Sachin Tendulkar’s 12-year-old son, Arjun, was picked to represent Mumbai for the U-14 West Zone league matches, the news was greeted with a lot of cheer. The move was hailed as the first step for Arjun in trying to emulate his illustrious father; there was also criticism that the Committee while picking the Sachin Junior snubbed some good performances.  There have been reports that the non-inclusion of several youngsters who had performed strongly in various tournaments has riled several parents. The most glaring omissions are  stated to be that of  Bhupen Lalwani, student of Don Bosco (Matunga), who struck an unbeaten 398 off just 277 deliveries against IES Modern School in the Giles Shield (Elite Division). And spinner Satyak Patel from Hansraj Morarji school who has been a consistent performer for his team this season. In comparison, Arjun Tendulkar’s lack of big scores gives an opportunity to the disappointed parents to point fingers.

Some in the panel had acclaimed  Arjun as having amazingly wide repertoire of shots at a young age and is apt at handling the handling the pressure. Anyway, this Sachin Baby, selected alongside  wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, Jharkhand seamerRahul Shukla and Mumbai's left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh is not Sachin Junior but is a Kerala player. 

Sachin Bab,  made his first-class debut in 2009, was the fourth-highest run-getter in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare trophy, in which his century in the quarter-finals helped Kerala qualify for the final four. Harmeet Singh if you can recall performed well  with six wickets at 20.16 in four matches, helping  India win the Under-19 World Cup last year. He has so far played only five first-class games - he claimed a seven-for on debut for Mumbai in 2009.  Royals will open their campaign against Delhi Daredevils on April 6 at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Sachin hit the headlines years before bursting on the National scene with that record 664  partnership with Vinod Kambli in a school match in 1987-88.  Amol Mazumdar was to bat next and stood padded throughout that long innings, which Sachin himself underwent when Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara were engaged in the long partnership against Australia at Hyderabad. 

In 2006, little known B Manoj Kumar and Mohammed Shaibaaz Tumbi playing  for St Peter's High School in Hyderabad broke the partnership record. Where are they now and whether they are playing for the State at least is now known !!!  While Tendulkar and Kambli created the record in three days,  these  boys scored 721 runs in 40 overs.  Manoj cracked 320 off 127 balls studded with 46 boundaries while Shaibaaz hit 324 laced with 67 hits  ~ and not a single Six in that…………………….. to cap that the  baffled opponents folded up for 21 in 7 overs.
