Retro phone ~ use your mobile - take calls on landline handset

Things are changing so rapidly in few years that many things are forgotten over decades…….   

How many of modern day children would realize that or know that ‘dring ….. dring’ sound that was associated with telephones and that telephones had ‘dial pad’ which one had to ring and not push buttons…. So for  if you were to dial say 44447777 – no way of pushing 4 four times and 7 four times… but one had to ring 4, 4, 4,4, and …. So on….  

Those days ‘the metallic sound of dring, dring, was the only sound that could be heard till one picked up the phone – no fancy ring tones, caller tunes and more…

The landline is place specific ~ while the cell phone is person specific… really wonder, how we communicated to people in Offices – people not in seat, in meetings, out of office and et al…. still communication was never a problem….. in modern day context, with people carrying more than one cell phone, having dual sim cards and the like – still many a times, one is not able to communicate is a wonder, which technology can do nothing about.  Mobile phone no doubt is a technological marvel ~ able to be connected all the time ~ [some misuse being connected while walking on the road; crossing it; driving a vehicle and more]

In someways, the ubiquitous mobile phone does pose some trouble. They become hot when you speak for long; your ear-aches when the call goes on and on [nothing to do with the caller or the contents spoken – but the physical discomfort is what is meant] ~ then there is the scare of radiation,  that cell phone waves damage your brain and the like….  ~ and there are times when you feel the old type handset would serve one much better than a small handset of luxury mobile……

Today, saw this equipment – in Office cabin of a person who has a flair for buying old as also modern things... – a handset with no dial facility – so how would one make a call ? – is it in any way a part of the equipment – is something missing ? …… knowing the person fully well, he is not one who would use outdated equipments… what this could be ????  [most of my friends know this gentleman, can you guess who ?]

Long after the landline, came the cordless phones, which offered some mobility – at least one did not have to run to the telephone table to pick up a call or for making a call. Aside, don’t you think an equipment that can instantly turn your cell phone would do a World of good. A  telephone handset could be a fabulous idea for people who wish the peace of a landline while taking a call on mobile.
