Cabinet reshuffle does not enthuse commoner - Sis Ram Ola, Who ?

In a democracy, the rulers are elected by the people… do you know and remember your representative [from your constituency] in Parliament, Legislative Assembly and in Municipal Corporation ??

The average age of Indian Lok Sabha is quite high…. Sis Ram Ola represents the Jhunjhunu constituency of Rajasthan in the 15^th Lok Sabha and is aged 86 ! He was a Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 1957 to 1990, and from 1980 to 1990 he was a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Rajasthan; he had held various posts and is our new Minister for Labour and Employment..

Till a few years ago, in most Competitive examinations and Quizzes, the names of Cabinet Ministers was a regular Q – not any longer; perhaps due to frequent changes and other……  Do you know the Minister holding the portfolio of Human Resources Development; Textiles; Housing and Urban poverty alleviation; Culture; Coal  ?

It is Dr. M Mangapati Pallam Raju; Dr Kavuri Samba Siva Rao; Dr.(Kum.) Girija Vyas; Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch; Sri Sriprakash Jaiswal…… respectively and there are 32 of them.

On Monday there was yet another Cabinet shuffle and there is not much impact on the common man… not many have followed the developments keeping themselves abreast of the developments. Earlier the UPA had billed the one in Oct 2012 as the last; now comes the second last as Congress prepares itself for the upcoming general elections………there are many promises undelivered and the shuffle neither infuses young blood nor much needed vigour.

Firstpost reports that the average age of the new Ministers who were sworn in on Monday was a biblical 70. The oldest of them  - Sis Ram Ola, 86, One doesn’t have to be age-ist to point out that the Cabinet shouldn’t exactly be treated like a retirement home.

So who goes out and who comes in does not enthuse the audience does not augur well for the Nation.  Even Pope retires; but in India where retirement is compulsory for all office goers, there is none for politicians…. In the 9th Lok Sabha elections, there was this gentleman who at the ripe age of 89 was contesting the elections and actually won by a handsome margin too….
