He made his T20I debut against West Indies in June 2011 tour at Queen's
Park Oval, under captaincy of Suresh Raina and opened along with wicket-keeper
Parthiv Patel in which he scored 5 of 11 deliveries faced before being caught
behind to keeper Andre Fletcher off captain Darren Sammy. Can you imagine who this prodigious talent is
???? He has played only one test having
scored brilliant 187 and in 19 One day internationals has scored 776 with 3
centuries and 3 fifties.
Easy one…. Before that
have you heard of AD Brown who is only one standing above him in First class
limited overs cricket…. Nicknamed Lordy in an allusion to Ted Dexter, Brown never
reached the real heights….
Today, Cricinfo reports
that Shikhar Dhawan began with Mo Farah-esque strides and ended with an Usain
Bolt-like burst to plunder 248 off 150 balls - the second-highest List A score
ever and the record for an A-team - out of India A's giddying 433 for 3, in the
virtual semi-final against South Africa A in Pretoria. Dhawan arrived at the
century-mark off 86 balls with a straight-driven boundary in the 27th over, but
found his nitro booster to rocket from there on. In the 28th over, he smashed
his first six, off Juan Theron, and immediately followed it with another,
signalling the start off an unprecedented attack.
The scorecard of the match
played at LC de Villiers Oval, Pretoria makes a great reading- Murali Vijay 40
off 37; Cheteshwar Pujara 109 off 97 balls and in between Shikhar Dhawan 248
[yes Two hundred Forty Eight] in just 150 balls with 30 boundaries and 7 over
it. India A made 433 in 50 overs….
Shikhar Dhawan, indeed
great…. And where were you hidden all these days !!!
Now getting back to the start, AD Brown
played 16 One day internationals for England ~ made one century and retired in
2011 ending his 22 year country cricket career.
