The recent month has changed it totally for
Rohit Sharma… he made a 200 in Onedayer and made his debut after playing 108 ODIs
At Kolkatta, he made the most of the chance
with a big century and today at Wankhede, almost the entire crowed had come to
watch a great fitting finale performance from the little master – Sachin
Tendulkar, unbeaten on 38 …. Will he first get those 12 and then another 50 to
get to his 52nd ton was uppermost in everybody’s mind.
All eyes and minds were on Tendulkar ~ and
that walk back to pavilion after being caught in the slips for a well made 74
brought tears out of millions as the trudged back slowly, for the last time in
a career that spanned 24 complete years.
It is not a hundred – he has played well….. but 74 is far too short by
the high standards that Sachin has set ….
India did very well – made fast runs of more
than 300 (338) – Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma got centuries – the latter
even better as he added 80 runs with the last wicket Shami Ahamed…. His 2nd
century on a row – getting closer to emulate Mohammad Azharuddin who 3
centuries in his first 3 matches against England. Full credit to him as he was only 45 when Shami joined.
Yet someone quipped – only Gayle can save….
Play it big and ensure a 2nd innings for Sachin…. That sounds far
fetched as WI are facing another innings defeat
