A simple test to our failing memory …. How many of us
remember Naik Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh ~ though they are very much in
news… this certainly is no place to write about IPL 7 and which teams
retain whom…… to give more clues ~ the Nation was outraged by the incident that
happened between Chhatri and Atma of Krishna Ghati, at 10:30 am on 8 January
2013.
We are a Nation of
talkers ………. Our Prime minister Manmohan Singh, about to exit politics after 15
years in the highest offices, perhaps did a great disservice to those who
admire him. In his final meeting with reporters, he announced his retirement
and sent some criticism the way of India 's brightest political star,
the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate. Singh told reporters:
"Without discussing the merits of Narendra Modi, I sincerely believe that
it will be disastrous for the country to have Modi as the PM." Reports
said he "declared (this) in a low voice, without altering his
expression." But why is Modi disastrous for India was never revealed nor
discussed at length…. Even for those of us seasoned to hearing our local
politicians lambasting opponents ~ this seemingly does not augur well.
I am confused in
supporting or factually writing against Kejriwal and AAP. ~ as Firstpost
reports there are two of Kejriwals - There is a Citizen Kejriwal, whom we all
like, and there is a Populist Kejriwal, and this persona is not who the
citizens of Delhi voted for. On the dimension of personal probity, there is
Honest Arvind. He speaks the language of clean government and politics with the
purpose of serving the people. Populist Kejriwal just like any other CMs is
announcing measures to give free water to the privileged, and
not-yet-warranted cuts in power bills. And we even saw him justifying these
actions during the trust vote when he said he saw nothing wrong in a free water
scheme that may benefit only 400,000 or even 200,000 people. Again here,
Gujarat has a better answer, especially
in agriculture, where 80 percent of our water is used. The decision to
lower power tariffs for those consuming less than 400 units a month in Delhi , has probably set
back the Indian power sector by at least another half-decade. India ’s power
sector is bleeding profusely. It has accumulated losses and are finding it too
hard to even break even and these freebies only saddle them further.
There is also the news that Aam Aadmi Party Ministers of Delhi, except Chief
Minister Arvind Kejriwal, were given Toyota Innova cars as official perks.
Have wandered into
politics and returning to that ghastly incident – the 2013 India–Pakistan
border incidents was a series of armed skirmishes along the Line of Control
(LoC) in the disputed Kashmir area. Starting from the mid-January 2013, they
have been described as the "worst bout of fighting in the region in nearly
10 years”. In a second skirmish on 8 January, Indian authorities
said that Pakistani forces crossed the LoC, killing two Indian soldiers. The
incident sparked outrage in India
and harsh reactions by the Indian army and government over the news that the
body of one of the soldiers had been beheaded. That happened between
Chhatri and Atma outposts on the LoC in Mankote area of Krishna Ghati, Jammu and Kashmir , at
10:30 am on 8 January 2013. Two soldiers, Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik
Sudhakar Singh, were killed and their bodies were apparently found mutilated,
with one decapitated. ~ and we have just crossed one year of that sordid
incident………..
Amidst the sorrow, there are reports of a video
emerging mysteriously on social media and TV channels purportedly showing a
person carrying a head with suggestions that it was that of Lance Naik Hemraj,
who was beheaded by Pakistan
Army regulars on the LoC a year ago. The Army Headquarters refused to comment
on the issue saying they were not in a position to say anything on the contents
of the video. However, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari
condemned the incident saying, "If there is such a video on social media,
it is sad and condemnable. I am sure that the Defence Ministry would take some
action in this regard after ascertaining its veracity." In the video, a
person, who according to media reports is a terrorist, is allegedly parading
the head of Lance Naik Hemraj on Pakistani soil along with his other belongings
including torch batteries and low denomination Indian currency. Commenting on
the incident, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said using the head of the
beheaded Indian soldier as a trophy as shown in the video clip is absolutely
shocking. "This is against the very spirit of humanity. Indian government
must immediately tell whether this is the head of Hemraj and what action it is
taking on the issue. We will wait for 24 hours on what the government has done.
This is a crime against humanity and cannot be forgiven," he said.
Very very sad indeed ~ these are not merely condemnable
but require most stern action against the unfriendly neighbour- in every possible forum including UN. Will the
Govt. stand up ??
