Mexican Young Mayor Gisela Mota is killed - just in a day !!!

No prize for guessing ~ this good looking young woman is a politician.

She is - Gisela Raquel Mota Ocampo of Mexico, affiliated to the PRD. After winning the elections in June 2015, Mota Ocampo became mayor of Temixco on 1 January 2016 which unfortunately did not last for a day even !!

Temixco is the fourth-largest city in the Mexican state of Morelos. Morelos is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 33 municipalities and its capital city is Cuernavaca. It is located in South-Central Mexico. Morelos is the second-smallest state in the nation, just after Tlaxcala.  Centuries ago, the conditions on the sugar plantations of Morelos  was the reason for rebellions, the first of which broke out in 1811, with some early successes. An early insurgent leader in the state was Francisco Ayala. Insurgents from the state managed to push as far as Chalco in what is now Mexico State when royalist forces pushed them back in 1812. After Hidalgo was executed, José María Morelos y Pavon took over the insurgent effort; by 1812, insurgents had control of the city Cuautla and royalist forces began to put it under siege. Morelos and his men held out for 58 days when reinforcement arrived, breaking the siege. This was one of the early vital wins for the insurgent movement. Morelos would eventually be captured by royalists and executed in 1815, but the memory of this battle would lead to the future state being named after him.

The youngish Mayor Gisela Mota, 33, was murdered by four gunmen in her home in the city of Temixco, Morelos, on Saturday 2nd Jan 2016. Temixco is in disputed drug territory about 60 miles south of Mexico City. She is not the first of the mayors to be killed even as Mexican officials  attributed Mota's murder to organized crime !

Four gunmen burst into the house of Mayor Gisela Mota and killed her, said the government of Morelos state.  Local police later arrested two alleged attackers, while killing two others, according to a statement issued by the Morelos attorney general's office. The alleged attackers have not been named.

There was a police presence at Mota's home for several hours after the 7am killing occurred, according to Diario de Morelos.  Though Cuernavaca is the state capital of Morelos, Temixco is the seat of several state institutions including the Public Security Commission, which coordinates state and local police forces. Mota's leftist Democratic Revolution Party released a statement describing her as 'a strong and brave woman who on taking office as mayor, declared that her fight against crime would be frontal and direct'.

In March, the body of mayoral candidate AidéNava González was found on the outskirts of Oxtotitlan, the town she was hoping to represent. Her head was decapitated and 'narcomanta' was written on a sheet covering her body, which was a drug gang message, according to the New York Daily News. Morelos Gov Graco Ramirez vowed there 'would be no impunity' in her killing and promised that state officials would not cede to the challenge presented by organized crime.  Federal and state forces are deployed in Cuernavaca and municipalities near the Guerrero state border in what is called 'Operation Delta'.
