More than 54,000 people
are being forced to leave their homes on Christmas day in Germany's biggest
evacuation since the Second World war. An unexploded 'blockbuster' bomb from
World War II was found in the southerly city of Augsburg, meaning all residents
living within a mile radius are leaving their homes while the device is
defused. The massive British aerial bomb - which was the largest ever dropped
by the RAF, weighing 1.8 tonnes - was discovered on a construction site in the
city.
The city was located in an
important strategic military position and housed three large barracks during
the Second World War. It also had a sub-centre of the Dakau concentration camp
supplying approximately thousands of workers for war-related industry. The most
particular of these was the Messerschmitt AG military aircraft firm
headquartered there, which had more than 18,000 people helping to construct
warplanes at its peak. Having already been bombed as part of Operation Margin
in 1942, large parts of central Augsburg were destroyed on February 25 and 26
1944, when the city was attacked by hundreds of RAF and US bombers.
I searched for a couple of websites to be confirmed that
it is for real ~ there are many fake news sweeping Internet, especially on
Whatsapp and similar forums – there were one too many rumours especially on the
(ill)health of political leaders of the State – with people claiming their news
to be from authentic sources, but after a couple of days, such news turns out
to be false ! First Post’s
Faking news are often interesting .. packing lot of spice # here are couple of
latest news read there ::
Christmas
doesn’t seem to be merry for Alastair Cook and team. After failing to win the
series in Bangladesh, England were thrashed 4-0 by India in a 5 match test
series. Looking at their recent record in Asia, now even Sri Lanka wants to
play them in a 11 test series. An 11
test match series is unheard of in recent times. We asked Thilanga Sumathipala,
the president of SLC about the length of the series. He replied confidently,
“We are currently on the 7th spot of ICC test rankings. If we want to be on the
top of the table, we will have to play a lot of matches with a weak team.
Considering their current form, the English team is our best bet on home turf.”
Virender Sehwag the cavalier batsman is
a darling on twitter with his fun-filled, timely hits on twitter. In a first of its kind course, Sehwag
International School is set to introduce Twitter as a subject. School’s founder
Virender Sehwag will be taking this class where he will teach kids this very
important life skill for today’s world. Sehwag’s jokes, witty comments and
birthday wishes have won him a lot of fans online and now people eagerly await
his tweets to see what he comes up with next. This will not be a part of the
regular teaching schedule and will be taught in extra classes after the regular
closing time. The course will be limited to the senior classes and students
below 8th standard will not be allowed to attend.
The
swashbuckling opener further added, “At Sehwag International School, we don’t
restrict ourselves to book learning alone, we want to provide all around
development of the children, only then they can survive in today’s world. Once
they graduate from our school, they can create their Twitter accounts and
quickly become Twitter influencers, good money in that job these days. I will
RT their first 5 tweets to set them on their way.”
.. .. the 2 news in
blue are from First Post Faking news and are clear false news meant for fun
only.. but not what you are going to read below – source : Daily Mail UK>
The terrifying
consequences of fake news was illustrated when Pakistan's defence minister
threatened to attack Israel with nuclear missiles. He responded to a false news article suggesting
Israel had threatened Pakistan with nuclear obliteration if it sent forces into
Syria.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif's
sinister threat read: 'Israeli def min threatens nuclear retaliation presuming
pak role in Syria against Daesh. Israel forgets Pakistan is a Nuclear state
too.' It
is not the first time Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has threatened to use the country's nuclear
weapons. In September he threatened India. The New York Times said he was responding to
a bogus article on awdnews.com in which it was claimed Israel's Defence
Minister had said: 'If Pakistan send ground troops into Syria on any pretext,
we will destroy this country with a nuclear attack.'
Pakistan and Israel both
have nuclear arsenals. Mr Asif appeared to accept the article at face value,
despite the fact that it mentioned Israel's former defence minister, Moshe
Yaalon, rather than Avigdor Lieberman, who took over in May. Israel's Defence
Ministry responded to Mr Asif's tweet, denying the Israeli defence minister had
made the original statement cited in the fake news article. 'The statement
attributed to fmr Def Min Yaalon re Pakistan was never said,' the Israeli
Defence Ministry on its official Twitter account.
The stories
are troublesome and people reacting without knowing the truth and correctness
is worrisome .. and to think that they control nuclear armament makes people
disquieting.
