Covid statistics have
always been threatening .. .. it is never good to read that so many people are
affected .. India's total cases have now reached 76,51,108. With 717 new
deaths, the death toll stands at 1,15,914. Total active cases are 7,40,090
after a decrease of 8448 in last 24 hours.
Of the 76.51 lakhs, Maharashtra leads with 16,09,516; Andhra Pradesh 7,89,553; Karnataka 7,76,901; Tamil Nadu 6,94,030, Uttar Pradesh 4,59,154, Kerala 3,53,472, Delhi 3,36,750 and West Bengal 3,29,057 [States with 3 lakhs and above] The numbers affected seen with the total population presents a far different story than what Indian media projected in earlier stages – Maharashtra struggling, Uttar Pradesh blamed, West Bengal takes care, while Kerala got all appreciation for its handling. Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan has said Union health
minister Harsh Vardhan’s recent comments on rising coronavirus cases in Kerala
should not be taken as a criticism of the state government’s COVID-19
management. With Kerala witnessing a spurt in infections recently, Vardhan said
the state was "paying the price for gross negligence” during Onam
festivities when unlocking of services along with an increase in travel for
trade and tourism led to the spread of COVID-19. However,
Vijayan blamed an "irresponsible opposition" for the rising cases.
The cure would only be the
vaccine. Vaccine development requires
years, sometimes decades, of research. However, since COVID-19 struck,
scientists have fast-tracked the process of making a vaccine. Several
countries, including the US, UK, and India are expecting a vaccine by the
year-end. There are 176 potential COVID-19 vaccines in the works right now
across the world. Of these, 44 are under clinical evaluation, according to the
World Health Organisation’s vaccine update.

It is a product of Pfizer !
In 1849, Pfizer was
founded in New York City by German-American Charles Pfizer and his cousin
Charles F. Erhart from Ludwigsburg, Germany. They launched the chemicals
business, Charles Pfizer and Company, and Bartlett Street in Williamsburg,
Brooklyn, where they produced an antiparasitic called santonin. This was an
immediate success, although it was the production of citric acid that led to
Pfizer's growth in the 1880s. World War
I caused a shortage of calcium citrate, which Pfizer imported from Italy for
the manufacture of citric acid, and the company began a search for an
alternative supply. Pfizer chemists learned of a fungus that ferments sugar to
citric acid, and they were able to commercialize production of citric acid from
this source in 1919. They are in news now !
Whizzing off
the production line in thousands of tiny bottles – new footage shows the
vaccine that could end the Covid misery engulfing the planet. Drug giant Pfizer
has already manufactured 'several hundred thousand doses' of the jab at its
plant in Puurs, Belgium, reports UK
media. They are being stockpiled ready
to be rolled out worldwide if clinical trials are a success, and regulators
deem it safe and effective. The US giant hopes to make 100 million doses
available this year, of which 40 million are destined for the UK – a figure
that will be dwarfed by the 1.3 billion jabs the company aims to manufacture in
2021. It is
however stated that every patient who receives the vaccine will need two doses
!!
In an interview with The
Mail on Sunday today, Pfizer UK boss Ben Osborn said: 'It was great to see the
first vial coming off the manufacturing line. 'It just brought a tremendous smile to my face
to see all of this work actually result in a product.' Pfizer, which is working with Germany's
BioNTech, is currently running a trial on 44,000 people, and last week said it
plans to apply for emergency US approval of its vaccine in November. That puts
Pfizer in pole position in the race to launch a Covid vaccine. According to the paper, 'We aren't light
years away from it. It isn't a totally unrealistic suggestion that we could
deploy a vaccine soon by the start of 2021.
'That would have a significant impact on hospital admissions and
deaths.'
Pfizer Inc. is an American
multinational pharmaceutical corporation headquartered in New York City. The company develops and produces medicines
and vaccines for a wide range of medical disciplines, including immunology,
oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, and neurology.
The World looks forward to vaccine and the news of Corona virus getting eradicated which augurs well for the mankind
21.10.2020.
