I remember that Pongal Test in 1980 at Chepauk when Pak toured India. In that Series, the star Batsman Zaheer Abbas failed miserably, getting out to mild Roger Binny; some Pakis claimed that to be result of some black magic ! .. .. at Chepauk Test - Sandip Madusudhan Patil debuted and we so eagerly looked forward to his making runs – having had glimpse of him in the net practice before the commencement of the Test. Sunil Gavaskar was to make 166 and Kapil bowled so well – a 7 wicket haul in the 2nd essay ensured a comfortable 10 wicket victory for India. Imran Khan ran in long and hard and bowled fast – took 5 wickets too – those days there were rest days the 4th day - 18th Jan was a rest day. Years later, in Feb 1987, Imran captained Pakis and scored a ton, which was overshadowed by a brilliant 123 laced with 18 fours and 2 sixers by local lad Krishnamachari Srikkanth.
Today TN Govt
has further relaxed lockdown rules, claiming that Covid 19 figures are coming
down and things appear under control. One
of the announcements is on allowing 150 people during a cine shooting ! .. ..

Indian films have been an
increasing hit in China in recent years. Even the Chinese producers are
creating remakes of Indian films but despite good political relation, Pakistan
movies could not get through with Chinese markets. But now, China is releasing
the first Pakistani film in 40 years as Beijing eyes closer diplomatic ties
with the Islamic republic. On November 13, an action film of Pakistan “Parwaaz
Hai Junoon” will hit the screens in Chinese multiplexes.
In every Country, there
would be High ranking representatives of other Nations. An ambassador is the President’s
highest-ranking representative to a specific nation or international
organization abroad. An effective ambassador has to be a strong leader—a good
manager, a resilient negotiator, and a respected representative of the State
that he is representing .. ..
Notre-Dame is in
news !! for wrong reasons. Notre-Dame de Paris is a
medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité in the 4th arrondissement of
Paris. The cathedral is considered to be
one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Its pioneering use of
the rib vault and flying buttress, its enormous and colourful rose windows, as
well as the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration set it apart
from the earlier Romanesque style. The cathedral's construction began in 1160
under Bishop Maurice de Sully and was largely complete by 1260, though it was
modified frequently in the following centuries.
Popular interest in the
cathedral blossomed soon after the publication, in 1831, of Victor Hugo's novel
Notre-Dame de Paris. Beginning in 1963,
the cathedral's façade was cleaned of centuries of soot and grime. The cathedral is one of the most widely
recognized symbols of the city of Paris and the French nation. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is a French Gothic novel by Victor Hugo,
published in 1831. The novel sought to preserve values of French culture in a
time period of great change, the French Revolution which resulted in the
destruction of many French Gothic cathedrals and churches threatened to
trivialise the vibrancy of 15th century France. The novel made Notre-Dame De
Paris a national icon and served as a catalyst into a renewed interest in the
restoration of Gothic form.
Recently trouble erupted,
as 3 people died in a knife attack at a church in Nice, in
what French President Emmanuel Macron said was an "Islamist terrorist
attack". He said France would not surrender its core values after visiting
the Notre-Dame basilica in the southern city. An extra 4,000 troops are being
deployed to protect churches and schools. Anti-terror prosecutors have opened
an investigation into the attack and France has raised its national security
alert to its highest level. It was stated that the suspect was a 21-year-old Tunisian national
who had arrived in France earlier this month. He had a document issued by the
Italian Red Cross.
In a unanimous
resolution, Pakistan’s National Assembly asked the government to recall their
ambassador in France. This came in the
wake of the Arab nations' outrage over French President Emmanuel Macron's
refusal to condemn the caricature of Prophet Muhammad by the French
publication. But major embarrassment was to follow after
the resolution passed by the Pakistan's
National Assembly. for, the Islamic nation forgot that it doesn't have any
envoy to France.
Pakistan's last ambassador
to France, Moin-ul-Haq was transferred three months ago to China, according to
The News and there has not been a replacement announced yet. According to a report by ANI, Foreign Minister
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was one the movers of the resolution in National
Assembly was aware that the Pakistan embassy in France does not have an
ambassador but did not oblige to the house by informing them.
Interesting ! ~
there were some politicians here, who had tried to portray Imran Khan as
very knowledgeable and able leader !!
