On Sunday (August 30, 2020),
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji’s
‘Mann Ki Baat’ address was music to the ears of most animal lovers, activists
and rescuers across the country. As the PM spoke about the beauty and
resilience of Indian dogs, and the induction of several indigenous breeds into
the Armed Forces, it was a shot in the arm of efforts to eradicate a general
tendency of viewing native breeds as inferior to their foreign counterparts.
Centuries ago, native dogs
were not relegated to the back benches of the breed hierarchy as they have been
in India today. They were constant companions of kings, queens and aristocrats
as adept hunters and symbols of stature. Their attachment to humans has even
been documented in ancient cave paintings.
Besides Chippiparai dogs that could run
run very fast and jump upto 10
feet at one go with ease, there are other breeds : Kombai, Kanni and Rajapalayam— fearless and
loyal to their masters, experts said. Mentioning about Indian dog breeds, the
prime minister said they cost less to raise and are better adapted to the
Indian environment and surroundings, adding that the security agencies had also
been inducting these dogs. "
Away, the French Bulldog (bouledogue français) is a
breed of domestic dog, bred to be companion dogs. The breed is the result of a
cross between Toy Bulldogs imported from England, and local ratters in Paris,
France, in the 1800s. They are stocky, compact dogs with a friendly, mild-mannered
temperament. In 2019, they were the
second-most popular registered dog in the United Kingdom, and the fourth-most popular AKC-registered dog
breed in the United States. The modern French Bulldog breed descends directly
from the dogs of the Molossians, an ancient Greek tribe.
Stefani
Joanne Angelina Germanotta (wonder who !!) better known as Lady
Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for
her image reinventions and musical versatility. She studied at Collaborative Arts Project 21,
through New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, before dropping out to
pursue a career in music. After Def Jam Recordings canceled her contract, she
worked as a songwriter for Sony/ATV Music Publishing, where she signed a joint
deal with Interscope Records and Akon's label, KonLive Distribution, in 2007.
Gaga rose to prominence the following year with her debut studio album, The
Fame, and its chart-topping singles "Just Dance" and "Poker
Face". Gaga's five succeeding
studio albums all debuted atop the US Billboard 200. Her second full-length
album, Born This Way (2011), explored electronic rock and techno-pop and sold
more than one million copies in its first week. Its title track became the
fastest-selling song on the iTunes Store, with over one million downloads in
less than one week.
This is no
post on Lady Gaga or on her musical skills but on her dog .. .. .. Lady Gaga's
dog walker was shot in the chest four times by two men who stole two of the star's
three French bulldogs in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Ryan Fischer, 30, was
reportedly ambushed by the assailants outside of his home on Sierra Bonita
Avenue as he walked Gaga's beloved dogs Koji, Miss Asia, and Gustav just before
10pm yesterday. Two of the dogs, Koji
and Gustav, were stolen. Miss Asia, meanwhile, managed to get away.
Police were called to
reports of shots fired and arrived to find Fischer seriously hurt, but
conscious and communicative. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is now said
to be 'recovering well'. Video from the
scene captured by KABC showed Fischer laying on the sidewalk and clinging to
Miss Asia as first responders attended to him. It's currently unclear whether
the thieves knew the dogs belonged to Gaga. However, French bulldogs are in
high demand and sell for anywhere between $1,500-$3,000. Those with pedigree
lineage can also go for as much as $10,000. Gaga, 34, is said to be distraught over the
incident. She is offering a $500,000 [Rs.3.63
crores apprx] reward for the return of Koji and Gustav 'no questions
asked', TMZ reported. In a statement
to DailyMail.com, the LAPD confirmed the shooting, but said it was too early to
know 'if it was a robbery'.
Fischer, who runs a
company called Valley Of The Dogs, had been watching Gaga's bulldogs while
she's away filming a new Ridley Scott movie in Rome, Italy. Officers were seen
prizing Miss Asia from his arms as they rendered him aid on Wednesday night.
The pooch was then swaddled up in a blanket and taken to the LAPD's Hollywood
headquarters. One of Gaga's bodyguards collected him from the station shortly
afterwards. The suspects are believed to
be two black males, who were reportedly both wearing baseball caps. They
fled the scene northbound on Sierra Bonita Avenue in a white vehicle - a BMW or
possibly a Nissan - and remain at large, police said.
She is currently filming in the Italian city for Ridley Scott's new movie Gucci, in which she stars Maurizio Gucci's ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. Debuting new brunette locks, the Bad Romance hitmaker was spotted walking into her hotel, glad in a glamorous animal print kaftan and a black studded face mask.
