Nithya Kalyani

 ஒவ்வொரு பூக்களுமே சொல்கிறதே !!  -  

Perhaps one may not be able to identify hearing ‘Vinca rosea’ that has a name as ‘Nayanathara’ – most likely you have this beautiful flowering plant ‘Nithyakalyani’. 

Catharanthus roseus, commonly known as bright eyes, Cape periwinkle, graveyard plant, Madagascar periwinkle, old maid, pink periwinkle, rose periwinkle,  is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is native and endemic to Madagascar, but grown elsewhere as an ornamental and medicinal plant.   It was formerly included in the genus Vinca as Vinca rosea. 

நித்ய கல்யாணி, நயனதாரா அல்லது பட்டிப்பூ என்றும் சுடுகாட்டுப்பூ (பூச்செடி) என்றும் அழைக்கப்படும் செடி,  மடகாஸ்கரில்   மட்டுமே காணப்பட்ட ஒருவகைச் செடியாக இருந்தது. பின்னர் இது வெப்பமண்டலப் பகுதிகளுக்கும், மென்வெப்பமண்டலப் படுதிகளுக்கும் பரவியது.
