this love to 'Calf' is not calf-love !!

Love, affection, warmth and more – best seen in Cows – parenting .. .. much has been written about  parental love and support and Western thinkers think that parental love is  associated with increased spirituality in the offspring. Studies have indicated that spirituality in children can be influenced both by the personal spirituality of the parents, and by parental love, suggesting a parental love is related in substance to spirituality. As children near adolescence, they tend to select peers who have similar levels of personal spirituality, and tendency to engage in contemplation or questioning around spiritual understanding. The relationship between parental spirituality and child spirituality becomes in part mediated by peer spirituality as the individual enters adolescence. 

Parental love is characterized by warmth, affection, care, comfort, concern, nurture, support, acceptance or simply love that a child can feel from  their parents1. The parents’ love can be felt when they kiss, hug, praise, compliment, or say nice things to or about their children.  .. .. nothing on parenting ! but on a calf seen at Triplicane this evening ! – cute little one – may be few hours old or just a day old ! – still struggling to find its feet, nurtured by its mother. 

கண்ணனுக்கு மாடு மேய்ப்பது என்றால் கொள்ளை ஆசை. வைகுண்டத்தில் இருப்பதைவிடப் பசுக்களை மேய்ப்பதில் தான் அவனுக்கு ஆனந்தம். என்று  நம்மாழ்வார் பாசுரத்தில் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. 

 

தாய் இல்லாமல் நாம் இல்லை; தாய் இன்றி உலகில் எவரும் பிறப்பதில்லை. தாய் எனும் சொல் நாடு, மண் ஆறு, கடல், இயற்கை…… மேலும் பலவற்றிற்கு உவமையாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.  மிகுந்த அன்பை குறிக்க - வாஞ்சை என்ற சொல்லை கேள்விப்பட்டு இருப்பீர்கள் !!  .. .. "வாத்சல்யம்" என்றொரு அழகிய சொல் உண்டு .. ..  வாத்சல்யம் என்றால் மிகுந்த அன்பு, எனினும் அன்பு என்று நேரடியாகப் பொருள் கூற முடியாதபடி, அன்பு, அக்கறை, வாஞ்சை, மிகப்பிரியம், குற்றம் காணாத் தன்மை எனப் பல்வேறு அர்த்தங்களில் தொனிக்கும்  ஒரு மிக மிருதுவான சொல்.   

“தாய் நினைந்த கன்றேயொக்க, என்னையும் தன்னையே நினைக்கச் செய்து” 

திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் -  உலகுக்கெல்லாம் தாயாகிய பெருமாளைத் தான் நினைத்திருக்குமாறு செய்தவன் எம்பெருமானே என "கன்று தாய்ப் பசுவை நினைப்பது போல" உவமையாக கூறுகிறார்.   

இந்திய உலகக்கோப்பையை வென்ற வருஷம் 'வாத்சல்யம்' இரா பெயரில் வெளிவந்த மலையாள படம்   சிறந்த நடிகருக்கான கேரள அரசு விருதை, , மம்மூட்டிக்கு பெற்று தந்தது.
