Accidents are not uncommon in Sporting World, especially in Sports where speed is the essence. Thinking F1 racing, immediate reference is champion Michael Schumacher’s accident but that happened elsewhere and not on a racing track ! .. .. In Dec 2013, Schumacher, a very competent skier, was holidaying in France, where he owns a chalet. He was skiing with his 14-year-old son on a red piste, which is classed for intermediate skiers. But shortly after 11am, he left the piste and skied on to an off-piste area located in between the red run and a blue run, for beginners to intermediates. It was here that he struck a partially-covered rock. He was not skiing fast but he lost control and catapulted 34 feet on to another rock. He smashed his head on the bolder. The force of the collision shattered his helmet. Sad ! – he went in to coma, but with the active care and support of his wife, he is still fighting and recovering.

Victor
lays it all out very simply: "Right from a young age I was interested in
Motorsport from watching races on TV, cruising with my toy motorbike in the
living room and sitting on my fathers classic Ducati. For my fourth birthday my
present was a minimoto and I started to race on a remote controlled car circuit
nearby and won several club races."
He progressed through the smaller classes in Belgium and the Netherlands
but 2015 saw a big step forward. It was my first year racing on large circuits
and big wheels, I loved the high speed and the new tracks, never giving up and
showing initiative, making my own plan.- sad and shocking the man referred here, is no
more !!

Supersport 300 motorcycle rider Victor Steeman has died of injuries suffered in
a crash in Portugal at the weekend, World Superbikes said. The 22-year-old Kawasaki racer crashed with
another rider in Saturday's race at the Algarve circuit and was taken by
helicopter to hospital in Faro. 'Despite the best efforts of the circuit's
medical staff, marshals and hospital staff, Steeman has sadly succumbed to his
injuries,' World Superbikes said. Steeman started the Portuguese round of the
championship with a mathematical chance of taking the title after four wins
this season. His
family said he had been able to save five other people by donating his organs. Steeman's death comes less than a week
after British Superbikes rider Chrissy Rouse, 26, died of head injuries after
being struck by another rider in a race at England's Donington Park circuit.
A
statement from his family read: 'Something you have always been afraid of as a
parent of a motorcycle racer has now happened. Our Victor could not win this
last race. 'Despite the unbearable loss and
grief, we are extremely proud to share with you that our hero, through his
passing, was able to save five other people by donating his organs. 'We
would like to thank everyone for the way you have lived with us over the past
few days. We will miss our Victor enormously.'
