Milvus migrans - Black kite !! - பொன்னோவியம், கண்டேனம்மா

இந்த புது டிரஸ் போத்திஸ்ல எடுத்தது !!  ஒரு பக்கம் பளிச், மறு பக்கம் டார்க் ஷேட் -  nice pattern too !!

என்ற இளையராஜா பாடலை கேட்டு இருப்பீர்கள்.   - ரஜினிகாந்த் நடித்தும், அதிகம் ஓடாத கழுகு என்ற படம்  கழுகு வேறு, பருந்து வேறு !!  - நம் குடியிருப்பு பகுதிகளில் அதிகம் காணப்படுவது பருந்து தான்.   பருந்து, பறவை வகுப்பைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு ஊனுண்ணி ஆகும்.  

Milvus migrans, commonly called Black Kite, is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. Distributed through the temperate and tropical parts of Eurasia and parts of Australasia and Oceania, it is probably the world's most abundant bird of prey.  The black kite (Milvus migrans) is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors.   

Unlike others of the group, black kites are opportunistic hunters and are more likely to scavenge. They spend much time soaring and gliding in thermals in search of food. Their angled wing and distinctive forked tail make them easy to identify. They are also vociferous with a shrill whinnying call.  

Black kites are most often seen gliding and soaring on thermals as they search for food. Their flight is buoyant and the bird glides effortlessly, changing directions easily. They will swoop down with their legs lowered to snatch small live prey, fish, household refuse and carrion.  They are opportunist hunters and have been known to take birds, bats, and rodents.
