Wanting to have everything ! leads us nowhere !!

என்னைக்குமே ஆசைக்கும் பேராசைக்கும் நடக்குற போரில

ஜெயிக்கிறது பேராசைதான்

கெட்டவன் தப்ப செய்றதுக்கோ, தப்ப கத்துகிறதுக்கோ வயசு

நேரம் காலம் ஏதும் பாக்குறதில்ல  .. .. .. தனி ஒருவன் பட வரிகள் !!

 

அதிகமா ஆசைப்பட்ட எவருமே ஜெயித்ததில்லை என்பது பல படங்களின் அடிநாதம் .. .. வாழ்க்கையில் பலர் தப்புகள் செய்து, அதீதமாக செல்வங்கள் சேர்த்து வழவதும் நிஜமே !! அதிகமான பணத்தை விரும்புவதுதான் பேராசை என்று பலரும் நினைக்கின்றனர். அது தவறாகும்…ஆசை  நமக்கு விருப்பமானவற்றை அடைய நினைப்பது.  அவ்வாறு அடைவதன் பின்னர் சந்தோசம் கொள்ள வேண்டும். :  இவைகளை  அடையக்கூடிய சாத்தியப்பாடு அறிந்து, கடின உழைப்பிற்குப் பிறகு வெற்றியை சூடுவது ஆசை. பேராசை : எந்தவிதமான அக புற காரணிகளை ஆய்வுக்கு உட்படுத்தாது. கனவு மட்டுமே கனா கண்டு அவற்றை அடைந்தே தீர வேண்டும் என்ற வெறி பேராசை !!   தோல்வியில் முடிவதும், குறுக்கு வழியில் பிறவற்றிற்கு சேதத்தையும், தனக்கு லாபத்தை உருவாக்குவது பேராசை.

 

அற்பமான செல்வத்தின் மீதுள்ள ஆசைகூட பேராசையாக அமைந்துவிடும். பயனற்றவை மீது வைக்கும் ஆசை பேராசை !!  பொருளாதார  செல்வங்கள் மிகவும் முக்கியமானவை ஆனால்!, அவை இல்லாமலும் நாம் ஆனந்தமாக வாழ முடியும் என்பதை உணர வேண்டும்.

 

Greed is an uncontrolled longing for increase in the acquisition or use of material gain (be it food, money, land, or animate/inanimate possessions); or social value, such as status, or power. Greed has been identified as undesirable throughout known human history because it creates behavior-conflict between personal and social goals.  The initial motivation for  greed and actions associated with it may be the promotion of personal interests.

We might not think of ourselves as a “greedy” person, but greed is not necessarily the greed for money !!  Greed in Buddhism is simply, “wanting a little bit more,” and not being satisfied with what we have, whether it is our salary, our home, our career, or our prestige. We always wish we had just a little more. With a little more money, we could buy this or that.  If we had that next level or position at work, then we could be the boss instead of being bossed.

Buddhism teaches us that this wish to have just a little more is unending. No matter how much money we have, how big a home we have, how nice of a car we have, we always want just a little more.  When what we do is motivated by these poisons, the inevitable result is  “suffering,” but not just suffering at the level of each individual.  

 

All the above thoughts on seeing this gorilla – no competition, plenty of fruits available – yet is chooses to keep one on hand and foot – as it savours some eatables !!
