Foci !! - what ?!? – multi-tasking !!
Seasoned con-man Nicky Spurgeon (Will Smith) meets an inexperienced grifter, Jess Barrett (Margot Robbie), who tries to seduce and con him, pretending they've been caught by her jealous husband. When they fail, Nicky advises them never to lose focus when faced with unexpected situations.
That was the plot of Focus, an American crime comedy-drama film written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie released in 2015.
The noun Focus would mean : a center of activity, attraction, or attention / a point of concentration.
Then there is “Foci” -
:
1. a point of convergence of light or other electromagnetic
radiation, particles, sound waves, etc, or a point from which they appear to
diverge. 2. another name for focal point (sense 1), focal length.
.. .. .. and it is also - a plural of focus.
Focus and concentration can be difficult to master. We live in a noisy world and constant distractions can make focus difficult. People often talk about multi-tasking ! ie., doing two or more things at a time. Women cook, wash clothes, tend to children, go to Office and more – this actually doing many things but not doing two things at the same time. It is possible, for example, to watch serial on phone while cooking meals or to answer an email while talking on the phone.
What is impossible,
however, is concentrating on two tasks at once. You're either listening to the
TV and the overflowing milk or you're cutting vegetable with TV in background noise. During any single
instant, you are concentrating on one or the other. It is always better to
focus one’s attention on what matters and eliminating the
lesser priority.
Warren Buffett uses a
simple 3-step productivity strategy to help his employees determine their
priorities and actions. You may find this method useful for making decisions
and getting yourself to commit to doing one thing right away. Will try to post
something more on it later
