the response time ! - 'உங்க டக்கு இவ்வளவுதானா ?"

“உங்க டக்கு இவ்வளவுதானா ?"  -     Wonder what !?!? 

In the finals of WC 1975 – Roy Clifton Fredericks  hooked Dennis Lillee thunder for a six  !  - a delivery hurled at 150 kmph – batsman would reach the batsman in 0.5 seconds ! Fredricks could react and hit it too – he lost his balance, fell on the wicket is another story. 

                Latency,  is a time delay between the cause and the effect of some physical change in the system being observed. Lag, as it is known in gaming circles, refers to the latency between the input to a simulation and the visual or auditory response, often occurring because of network delay in online games. Latency is physically a consequence of the limited velocity at which any physical interaction can propagate. The magnitude of this velocity is always less than or equal to the speed of light. 

அஜித் படங்களில் நல்ல காமெடி இருக்கும்.  அட்டகாசம் படத்தில் கண்ணாடியை திரும்பின எப்படி ஜீவா வண்டி ஓடும் - நம்மை குலுங்க குலுங்க சிரிக்க வைக்கும்.   வில்லன் படத்தில் அஜித் இரட்டை வேடம்.  போலீஸிடம் அஜித்தை மாட்டிவிட கருணாஸ் முயற்சிக்க - தோல்வி அடைந்து - அவர்களை கேட்கும் வசனம் - 'சார் உங்க டக்கு இவ்வளவுதானா ?" 

டக்கு  என்ற வார்த்தைக்கு தமிழ் அகராதியில் சரியான அர்த்தம் கிடைக்காமல் போகலாம்.  !!  டக்கு என்றால் -  reaction, response time !  - உங்களை கூப்பிட்டவுடன் திரும்பும் நேரம்.  என் காமெராவை ரெடி பண்ணவுடன் - இந்த பூனை ஒரு கணம் தலையை திருப்பியது - அந்த க்ஷணத்தில் டக்கென்று ஒரு போட்டோ 

The word response would mean the act of responding. Something  constituting a reply or a reaction.  The noun response time  is the amount of time that a person or system takes to react or to deal with something.  Response time includes the time taken to transmit the inquiry, process it by the computer, and transmit the response back to the terminal. Response time is frequently used as a measure of the performance of any  interactive system. 

Response time is the total amount of time it takes to respond to a request for service. That service can be anything from a memory fetch, to a disk IO, to a complex database query, or loading a full web page. Ignoring transmission time for a moment, the response time is the sum of the service time and wait time. You reach  customer desk (after difficulty and pressing multiple nos. !) – and present your query – the time taken for replying back to you (not necessarily the answer that you wanted or solution to your problem) – is the response time.
