Beau Parrot !! - உன்னை நான் பார்த்தது, வெண்ணிலா வேளையில்

Can you define beauty ! (your mind may immediately wander to your teen ages and recall what you thought was most beautiful those days !).  Whatever it be !! – Green Parrots are wonderful and make us fall in love at first sight.

 

‘உன்னை நான் பார்த்தது வெண்ணிலா வேளையில்’ என்ற பாடல் ஒரு காலத்தில்  பெல்பாட்ட இளைஞர்களின் மவுத்டோன் பாடல். எப்போதும் பாடிக்கொண்டிருப்பார்கள். ரேடியோவில் அந்த பாடல் ஒலித்தால் அவ்வளவு சந்தோசம் படுவார்கள்.  தெருவில் அந்த சமயம் ஒரு அழகி சென்றால், அவளை பார்த்து தாங்கள் படுவதாகவே உருகி வாய் அசைப்பார்கள் !   அந்தப் பாட்டில் ‘பபபபபப்பாபா... பபபபபபபா’ என்றெல்லாம் எஸ்.பி.பி. ஹம்மிங்கில்  பாடி - அய்யோ என்னா டாப்பு  என உருக வைப்பார்.  பாடலை எழுதியவர் வாலி - இசையமைப்பாளர் யார் தெரியுமா ? 

Annasamy is an uneducated villager who wants to marry his cousin Sarasu, a college student.  Annasamy heads to the city to find her and befriends Usha in the process. Together they find Sarasu who secretly married club singer Mahesh and had been abandoned by him. ~ sort of regular theme of those days !! A love story that hit the screens in 1975 – smile if you belong to that age !! 

Parrots (they are Green, yet we tend to call them Green Parrots !- பச்சைக்கிளி).   The rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri),  is a medium-sized parrot in the genus Psittacula, of the family Psittacidae. It has disjunct native ranges in Africa and the Indian Subcontinent,  and is now introduced into many other parts of the world where feral populations have established themselves and are bred for the exotic pet trade.  

Our attraction to parrots has played a key role in their rise to world domination. Humans have traded and moved these birds around for millennia. Alexander the Great kept parrots he brought back from India in the fourth century B.C.E. The Romans, too, kept exotic parrots as pets. In North America, archaeologists have carbon-dated Scarlet Macaw bones found in New Mexico's Chaco Canyon—hundreds of miles northwest of the parrots' Central American range—to the 10th century C.E.

1970களில்  கோயில் விழாக்களென்றால் பாட்டுக்கச்சேரி நிச்சயமாக இடம்பெறும். உள்ளூர் கச்சேரிக்காரர்கள், சினிமாப் பாடல்களை அப்படியே பாடுவார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு பாடகரின் குரலுக்குத் தகுந்தபடி பாடுவதற்கு,   பாடகர்கள் இருப்பார்கள். எஸ்.பி.பி.யின் பாடலைப் பாடுபவர் எழுந்து மைக் பிடித்தாலே ரசிகர்கள் கைதட்டலும் விசிலும் அடித்து தங்களுக்கு பிடித்த பாடலை பாடுமாறு வற்புறுத்துவார்கள்.  இன்றைக்கு ஆண்ட்ராய்டு போனை விரலால் தள்ளி பாடல்களை தேடி கேட்போருக்கு அந்த உணர்வு புரியாமல் போகலாம்.  

பட்டிக்காட்டு ராஜா (Pattikkaattu Raja) 1975ம் ஆண்டு வெளிவந்தது.  பெரிதாக ஓடியதாக நினைவில்லை.   கே. சண்முகம் இயக்கத்தில்  சிவகுமார், கமல்ஹாசன், ஜெயசுதா மற்றும் பலரும் நடித்து இருந்தனர். இந்த பாடலை எழுதியவர் வாலி - இசை : சங்கர் கணேஷ், பாடியவர் -  எஸ். பி. பாலசுப்பிரமணியம்.  

Today at least 60 of the world's 380 or so parrot species have a breeding population in a country outside their natural geographical range. Each successful transplant has its own story: some are benign, others a threat to the local wildlife; some are abundant in their home ranges, whereas others rely on cities as a refuge from extinction. All are by-products of the pet trade and animal trafficking around the world. Because they're parrots, they're smart, adaptable, creative and loud. “They're animals that are really social, and they live in cognitively complex social environments,” says a postdoctoral fellow at the Rockefeller University.  

Though we love them – in some places they are seen as pests and are culled. As early as 1839, Charles Darwin described this species as a major agricultural pest in South America. “These parrots always live in flocks, and commit great ravages on the corn-fields,” he wrote in his journal. “I was told that near Colonia [del Sacramento, Uruguay,] 2500 were killed in the course of one year.”  The Uruguayan government still considers the bird a serious crop pest, and the country's authorities carry out regular culling. Uruguay also has been a top exporter of the bird for the pet trade over the past 50 years.
