Fighting one's own shadow !!
How much do you love thyself ! – how much you fear thyself and how much you fight thyself !
There are people who think that the whole World up against them, that they have to fight for everything – they are unhappy – most often we could be one in this crowd, if not fully at least at times ! - We do lot of fights – ‘Shadow fight’
Fight,
fight, fight !!
Fighting
the world every single day
Fighting
the world for the right to live and get things done !!
Many a times, the fight is unwarranted, unnecessary or is against things that are not real but only perceptions !
Perception bias is a pervasive issue that reaches all areas of life, it’s especially damaging in the workplace. Left unchecked, bias can become deeply ingrained in your organizational culture and could make one feel more and more isolated.
The World lives with perception. Things begin with what One sees and how they perceive. Good, bad, ugly - all depends on your perception only, which begets you happiness or sadness, trust or mistrust, success or failure as an outcome.
An innocent baby sees things in raw form without any bias, any opinion and learns from people around. They touch fire to know that it is hot ! Perception is one's own thing and ideally it should not have any harmful effects. It is within one's own mind. But in real world it can sometimes be too dangerous, adequate enough to spoil a family, life or career.
Today's life and career is complex, as it has always been. Talent is important, but at the same time more important is how people look at you, what the world believes you are. Career management is no more a matter of learning new skills and building capabilities, but it has evolved to be more about managing people dynamics around you. Some call it networking or relationship building. But it is all about creating good Perception about you in right set of people.
Words of wisdom from Aasami Sirippu Sinthanaiyaan.

in search of my mayilu - 16 Vayathinile !!
It was a pilgrimage – had darshan in more than 20 temples ! – also yearned to see her ! - not a travelogue but a love-story – me loitering around for 3 days for a glimpse of ‘beautiful her’!
Parattai—who lusts for Mayil—spreads rumours about her relationship with Sathyajith. Because of this, Mayil's engagement plans are halted and the village becomes hostile to her. Unable to bear the shame, Guruvammal dies and leaves Chappani to take care of Mayil.
Mayil is a 16-year old schoolgirl who lives in a village with Guruvammal, her mother. Guruvammal also takes care of a limping orphan who is dismissively called "Chappani" (Lame) by the villagers and does whatever he can to earn a living. Mayil's ambition is to become a teacher, and she hopes to marry a sophisticated, educated man; although Chappani is in love with her, she does not reciprocate his love. Sathyajith, an urban veterinarian, arrives in the village to work and falls in love with Mayil. Believing that Sathyajith is the right person for her, Mayil falls in love with him, to the point of refusing an opportunity to attend a teacher-training course in Madras to remain with him.
The film was originally titled Mayil, and set to be funded by the National Film Development Corporation of India. When they backed out, it was picked up by S. A. Rajkannu who produced it under his banner Shri Amman Creations, and eventually retitled. 16 Vayathinile was a cult movie of yesteryears, predominantly outdoors.

discilined lane crossing ! ~ Proprioception !!
Ever heard of ‘Proprioception!’ - right from our childhood we have been fed into an aura of superiority that humans possess the sixth sense, and only specie that could think and decide ! - and with this extra sense, how disciplined are you ?
எங்கே
செல்லும் இந்த பாதை யாரோ யாரோ அறிவார் ?
காலம் காலம் சொல்ல வேண்டும் யாரோ உண்மை அறிவார் ?
How disciplined are you ! especially in crossing roads, waiting signals, and driving on roads. Everyone rushes in the morning to work and elsewhere, vying to outsmart others and reach their destination in time, albeit many a times, we do start later than what we should have !!
How good a driver you are? Generally speaking, good road positioning means you should aim to keep your car in the centre of your lane. We say ‘generally’, because when you’re out and about, you need a dynamic relationship with the roads. As different hazards present themselves, you need to adapt your driving accordingly, and when you’re about to turn or overtake an obstacle, your road position will need to change. Strangely enough, driving instructors tell this often: - if you are taught to drive a two-wheeler, just go straight, the oncoming car driver would adjust the position; and when you are on wheels of a car, just go straight, the smaller vehicle would turn, and keep away !!
In schools, we were taught that humans have five senses: taste, smell, vision, hearing, and touch and the sixth sense of rational thinking. However, an under-appreciated "sixth sense," is - Proprioception, that allows us to keep track of where our body parts are in space. Proprioception is the body’s mysterious ability to locate our limbs, even in darkness.
Proprioception, otherwise known as kinesthesia, is body's ability to sense movement, action, and location. It's present in every muscle movement humans have. Without proprioception, one wouldn't be able to move without thinking about one’s r next step. Proprioception, Proprioception comes from a Latin word meaning unconscious perception of movement. It allows the body to control its position for optimal locomotion.
These cows for sure are not
Harvard educated, nor possess any Sixth sense, but are mindful of the difficulties and make a disciplined way
of crossing the road.

My love for Typewriting !!
Do not read the Caption wrong ! (it is for and not at !!)
Very happy in meeting this gentleman who shaped the
lives of many in Triplicane – met him couple of days back near Sri
Parthasarathi Swami temple – Mr Narayanaswami. Have
you ever felt bad in being ahead of time ?
For many of us 27 Car Street was a landmark !! ~ and this ever smiling man along with a group of good people transformed lives of hundreds. Mr MA Srinivasan [fondly Gopu] was its Principal. For those passing out in First class were awarded a travel bag – receiving them from the Chief Guest on Saraswati pooja day was a proud occasion.
a couple of decades back, life was different - Godrej, Facit, Remington and Underwood were household names; Tripicane streets were dotted with Srinivasa, Padmavathi, Sarathy, Shivish Halda, Ganesh, Halashyam ………… and more. Be it Mylapore, T Nagar, Purasawakkam or Mayavaram – situation was no different. One could see young boys and girls walking with rolled sheets of paper on hand .. ..the learning courses were usually of an hour duration… the last 10 minutes, if you are to enter the hall, you might be frightened with the silence that precedes typical sound – keyboards pressed, cylinders moving, carriages returned, occasional paper change… people with total concentration seeing printed matter placed on their side and deftly moving their fingers.
It was the backbone of every office; you could have seen them sitting in front of Courts; Registrar offices ~ and all important places where documents were the key…. From marriage certificates – to divorces; property registration and every other service were documented neatly…. Mostly without mistakes by lowly paid people. In case you are wondering what this is all about… it is typewriters, typists and typewriting institutes…
Even before Arts colleges mushroomed – there were Typewriting institutes and people rushed there. A stenographer was premium – in great demand, though the typist to steno ratio in an office could often be 5 : 1 or even higher. Stenotypists took dictation, hearing English, took notes in Pitman’s phonetic code and converted them back to written (typed) English on typewriter – making communication flow.
I learnt Typewriting at ‘Srinivas College of Commerce’, ~ 27 Car Street, Triplicane, Chennai 600005 and later honed my ‘Shorthand skills’ also there. This Institution shaped the career of many Triplicaniites and ensured livelihood to many more… really great service by Mr MA Srinivasan [Principal of Srinivasa Institute] and the batch of vivacious tutors who raised the confidence level of the youngsters that they sure would get a good job. One could happily recall – Sri – Raghu, Sundaramurthi, Santhanam; Sampath Sir, J Srinivasan, Narayanaswami … instructors who changed the lives of many. Learning Typewriting (& Shorthand) easily provided job opportunities - more importantly, the confidence in a workplace.
In early 1980s it bustled with activity ~ institutes would open at 6 am and would close by 9 pm with break from 12 noon to 4 pm….. at Srinivas there were 70 odd typewriters (100+ at its peak) and in every batch there would be so many girls and boys……….. at street corners some groups would stand waiting to watch those going to typewriting institutes with couple of sheets rolled in their hands… and inside the institutes also developed the love-stories of some… an odd smile, a glance, an exchange from a heartthrob would make you soar !
There were many good typists who could churn out
error-free documents – neatly made on a typewriter ; remember typewriter
has no correcting mechanism and a mistake made would remain to be seen by
all….. yet there were quality typists who could type big statements-
multi-pages, which would then be pasted together … quite an achievement indeed.
Mr Narayanaswami who was one of the TW instructors, moved out of Triplicane at some point of time and has retired from service too. Now he is back in Triplicane and it was such a joyous moment reconnecting !
If you remember the Q at the start, I joined Typewriting when I was in my X standard and those days most prominent, beautiful people were older to me !! With love for Srinivasa Institute and regards to all those who taught ~ in a tinge of sadness, the building is no more now.
Regards – S. Sampathkumar
A proud good Stenographer

If wishes were horses !!
ஆசைகள் குதிரைகளாக இருந்தால்
- என்ற சொல்லாடலை கேள்விப்பட்டு இருப்பீர்கள் !!
If wishes were horses, then beggars would
ride.
If turnips were swords, I'd have one at
my side.
If "ifs" and "ands"
were pots and pans,
There'd be no work for tinkers' hands.
The first
recognizable ancestor of the rhyme was recorded in William Camden's Remaines of a Greater Worke, Concerning
Britaine, printed in 1605.

Flirting ! - Attraction !!
Flirting ! - might bring back some memories of your younger days ! In our school days, rich possessed cycles and some had special skills – they would try riding up and down, thinking that the girl would get attracted by his driving skills !! – sometimes might fall down and become an object of ridicule !
Some people are simply born to dance—and the same goes for birds. Not all have special talents but every one tries to attract. Many species, once grown, find themselves overcome with a primal urge to bust a move. If you're interested in someone romantically, you might flirt with them, which means to chat them up or tease them in a playful way. Flirting is an indirect and fun way to let your crush know you're interested, like a seductive line or a few coy words.
Can one fall in love with someone who is of a different genre !! Colonel Valentin Lebedev, is in charge of the military operation, his daughter Yulia, o develops a romantic relationship with the alien Hekon, and her former boyfriend Artyom is the main antagonist. Hekon is a representative of a technologically-advanced extraterrestrial race who travels to Earth incognito for research purposes. While traveling through the Solar System, his spaceship is damaged by a meteor shower. The Russian Air Force mistakes his spaceship for a NATO military spacecraft and damages it by firing missiles into it, causing it to crash into several buildings in Moscow and kill hundreds of people.
In physics, electromagnetism is an interaction that occurs between particles with electric charge via electromagnetic fields. The electromagnetic force is one of the four fundamental forces of nature. It is the dominant force in the interactions of atoms and molecules. Electromagnetism can be thought of as a combination of electrostatics and magnetism, which are distinct but closely intertwined phenomena. Electromagnetic forces occur between any two charged particles. Electric forces cause an attraction between particles with opposite charges and repulsion between particles with the same charge, while magnetism is an interaction that occurs between charged particles in relative motion.
Interpersonal attraction, as a part of social psychology, is the study of the attraction between people which leads to the development of platonic or romantic relationships. It is distinct from perceptions such as physical attractiveness, and involves views of what is and what is not considered beautiful or attractive.
Within the study of social psychology, interpersonal attraction is related to how much one likes or dislikes another person. It can be viewed as a force acting between two people that tends to draw them together and to resist their separation.
The affair of Yulia, with the alien Heko – was the storyline of “Attraction’ - a 2017 Russian science fiction action film directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk. The plot focussed upon an extraterrestrial spaceship crash-landing in the Chertanovo district of Moscow after attack by Russian Airforces. The film starred Irina Starshenbaum, Alexander Petrov, Rinal Mukhametov, and Oleg Menshikov.
Species all across the
animal kingdom display a variety of courtship rituals. Usually, these consist
of the males working hard to attract the attention of females through sound,
strength, construction skills, fighting prowess, or simply dashingly good
looks. This is particularly true among birds, which employ an extraordinary
range of methods for impressing the opposite sex. From complicated movements to
impressive plumage, feathered Romeos exhibit some amazing behaviors —
especially dancing.
Unlikely that this Pigeon
was trying to woo those beautiful Parrots, yet one would never know !

Theory of relativity !! ~ இரு கோடுகள்
Life is full of comparisons ! Financial targets in life can be met but aspirations can never be ! – even when you earn a lot, one may still aspire more or compare with others thinking that he/she is in a lower position !!

Heard of Theory of Relativity !! - it is a famous theorem of Albert Einstein, which states that space and time are relative, and all motion must be relative to a frame of reference. It is a notion that states' laws of physics are the same everywhere. This theory is simple but hard to understand.
The theory of relativity usually encompasses two interrelated physics theories by Albert Einstein: special relativity and general relativity, proposed and published in 1905 and 1915, respectively. Special relativity applies to all physical phenomena in the absence of gravity. General relativity explains the law of gravitation and its relation to the forces of nature. It applies to the cosmological and astrophysical realm, including astronomy. The theory transformed theoretical physics and astronomy during the 20th century, superseding a 200-year-old theory of mechanics created primarily by Isaac Newton. It introduced concepts including 4-dimensional spacetime as a unified entity of space and time, relativity of simultaneity, kinematic and gravitational time dilation, and length contraction.

Moving away 15th March is significant – “the Ides of
March” ! what ?
The Ides of March is the
74th day in the Roman calendar, corresponding to 15 March. It was marked by
several religious observances and was a deadline for settling debts in Rome. In 44 BC, it became notorious as the date of
the assassination of Julius Caesar, which made the Ides of March a turning
point in Roman history.
The
Romans did not number each day of a month from the first to the last day.
Instead, they counted back from three fixed points of the month: the Nones (the
5th or 7th, 8 days before the Ides), the Ides (the 13th for most months, but
the 15th in March, May, July, and October), and the Kalends (1st of the
following month). Originally the Ides were supposed to be determined by the
full moon, reflecting the lunar origin of the Roman calendar. In the earliest
calendar, the Ides of March would have been the first full moon of the new
year.
On
Ides of March day in 44 BC, Julius Caesar was stabbed to death at a meeting of
the Senate. As many as 60 conspirators, led by Brutus and Cassius, were
involved. According to Plutarch, a seer had warned that harm would come to
Caesar on the Ides of March. On his way to the Theatre of Pompey, where he
would be assassinated, Caesar passed the seer and joked, "Well, the Ides
of March are come", implying that the prophecy had not been fulfilled, to
which the seer replied "Aye, they are come, but they are not gone." This
meeting is famously dramatised in William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar,
when Caesar is warned by the soothsayer to "beware the Ides of
March." The Roman biographer
Suetonius identifies the "seer" as a haruspex named Spurinna.
Locals would recall
Rajnikanth playing Julius Caesar in the movie Priya !!. Caesar's
assassination opened the final chapter in the crisis of the Roman Republic.
After his victory in Caesar's civil war, his death triggered a series of
further Roman civil wars that would finally result in the rise to sole power of
his adopted heir Octavian. In 27 BC, Octavian was raised to be emperor
Augustus, and thus he finally terminated the Roman Republic. Writing under Augustus, Ovid portrays the
murder as a sacrilege, since Caesar was also the pontifex maximus of Rome and a
priest of Vesta. On the fourth anniversary of Caesar's death in 40 BC, after
achieving a victory at the siege of Perugia, Octavian executed 300 senators and
equites who had fought against him under Lucius Antonius, the brother of Mark
Antony. The executions were one of a series of actions taken by Octavian to
avenge Caesar's death.
