Beautiful Pattu Rosa ! - Love is a river or razor or hunger ... .. of a flower !!

Good morning welcome to my photo story  – of late,  have been posting many birds – for people, especially  photographers – a fragrant  ‘Rose’ is a beautiful one often associated with love.

நீங்கள் நிறைய சினிமா பார்ப்பவரா ?  - சசிகலா என்ற கதாநாயகியை நினைவு உள்ளதா ?  

 

Some say, "Love, it is a river; That drowns the tender reed"

Some say, "Love, it is a razor; That leaves your soul to bleed"

Some say, "Love, it is a a hunger; An endless aching need"

I say, "Love, it is a flower  -  And you it's only seed" 

Interesting lyrics of a pop song titled "The Rose" written by Amanda McBroom. Bette Midler made the song famous when she recorded it for her 1979 film The Rose, in which it plays during the closing credits.  The film story line goes thus : 

In late 1969, Mary Rose Foster is a famous rock and roll diva known as "The Rose." In spite of her success, her personal life is lonely and exhausting. She is exploited and overworked by her gruff, greedy manager and promoter Rudge Campbell. Though forthright and brassy, Rose is an insecure alcoholic and former drug user who seems to crave approval in her life. As such, she is determined to return to her Florida hometown, now as a superstar, and perform for the people from her past. 

Following a performance in Texas, Rose meets with country music star Billy Ray, whom she idolizes and whose songs she often covers in live shows. Billy Ray cruelly demands that she never perform his music again and rudely dismisses her. After discovering that Rudge arranged the meeting because he wants to sign Billy Ray to his label, Rose defiantly flees with a limousine driver named Huston Dyer. .. .. 

The Rose is a 1979 American musical drama film directed by Mark Rydell, starring Bette Midler, Alan Bates, Frederic Forrest, loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin, the film follows a self-destructive rock star in the late 1960s, who struggles to cope with the pressures of her career and the demands of her ruthless business manager.

This  melody "Eeramana Rojave" is set in the Carnatic raga   Madhyamavati! (says wikipeida).  இந்த அற்புதமான பாடல் இசைஞானி இளையராஜா இசையில் யேசுதாசின் குரலில் பற்பல தடவை விரும்பி கேட்கப்பட்ட, கேட்கப்படும் பாடல்.  படம் 1983ல் வெளிவந்த இளமை காலங்கள் -  இத்திரைப்படத்தில் மோகன், சசிகலா மற்றும் சுகுமாரி ஆகியோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்திருந்தனர்.

சசிகலா என்று தமிழில் அறியப்பட்ட சாசி கவுர் மல்கோத்ரா(Shashi Kaur Malhotra) இந்த படத்தில் அறிமுகமாகி சுமார் 33 தமிழ் திரைப்படங்களில் நடித்தார். இரச்சணி என்ற பெயரில் தெலுங்கு திரைப்பட உலகில் அறியப்பட்டார். 

Cinema is a medium of entertainment, enjoy but understand that adoring Cinema heroes/heroines takes us nowhere !   The dream factory is a bubble world – a few decades ago, Sujatha wrote, every train to Egmore carries scores of village girls aspiring to become a hit in tinseldom but end up at wrong places.

Life is all about hardwork, chosing right path and enjoying things without getting drowned !  thoughts of a simpleton ‘aasami sirippu sinthalaiyan’

Pictured here is ‘Pattu Rose’  - Portulaca grandiflora,  a succulent flowering plant in the purslane family Portulacaceae.  It has many common names, including rose moss, eleven o'clock, Mexican rose, moss rose, sun rose,  table rose but despite all these grand names and the superficial resemblance of some cultivars' flowers to roses, it is not a true rose, nor even a part of the rose family or rosid group; rather, it is much more closely related to carnations and cacti.
