Movies are all about hypes ! ~ while heroines are the most adored, it is the hero who gets super projection. In Tamil movies, viewers get so worked up when the name of their fav hero is projected on silver screen on various methods, sometimes, the hero comes dancing, sometimes comes down jumping, and sometimes first the leg or face is shown !!!!!
People love a good hero. Ever since the ancient Mesopotamian myth The Epic Of Gilgamesh, humans have had a fascination with characters who defy all the odds – and mostly it is same narrative of rich being bad and poor hero raising to defend his group. If there is a failed narrative that needs the quick fix it is the – hero myth !! Comedian turned heroes too can send 20 people holding deadly weapons on air, with their every moment fighters fall on glasses, ground, houses, cars and what not breaking them and unable to get up – some have audacious power of tonnes of power on their arms. It is not fiction, but power, fantasy and people believe them !!
In 1936, American archaeologist Indiana Jones recovers a Golden Idol from a booby-trapped Peruvian temple. Rival archaeologist René Belloq corners him and steals the idol; Jones escapes in a waiting float plane. The Raiders of the Lost Ark released in 1981 directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, based on a story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman was a class movie. Set in 1936, the film starred Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, a globetrotting archaeologist vying with Nazi German forces to recover the long-lost Ark of the Covenant which is said to make an army invincible.
The opening scene showed - Indy the hero, portraying what to expect of him: bravura adventuring and artifact-finding, but also failure at the hands of Belloq. That one scene set up the whole movie.
Tamil cinema
has often been praised for normalising dark-skinned heroes. In fact, in the
years following superstar Rajinikanth’s debut, filmmakers have even
incorporated into their films songs dedicated to highlighting the hero’s skin
tone as desirable. The same privilege, however, has not been extended to women
in Tamil cinema. The number of Tamil women playing the role of lead Tamil
characters on screen has been minimal. There have been Tamannaah, Nayanthara,
Sonali Bendre, Sonia Agarwal, Tabu, Kriti Kharbanda, Kajal Aggarwal, Hansika
Motwani, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherjee, Deepika Padukone, Manisha Koirala, Urmila
Matondkar, Bhumika Chawla and more - it is often women from north India or neighbouring
States who are tasked with the role of a
Tamil woman on screen, be it modern or rustic.
Kaalaiyan, a well-to-do
and honourable landlord, lives modestly with his four brothers in a village.
Sundaravelu is an equally rich but less honourable landlord in the neighbouring
village. He lusts for Kaalaiyan's property and sends his assistant Saamipillai
to him with an offer to buy his property. Murattukalai
produced by AVM directed by SP Muthuraman turned the lives of erstwhile hero
Jai Shankar and upcoming Superstar Rajinikanth.
The
introductory jallikattu sequence and song "Pothuvaaga En Manasu
Thangam" were shot at Paganeri, a village near Karaikudi while the
close-up shots of Rajinikanth fighting with the bull in the field were shot at
the AVM school playground in Chennai – were iconic images for Tamil movie fams/

of the best action sequences including the fight on top of a running train in the climax
This man is
no hero and not a scene from any movie, for people, there are daily chores and
they do it happily without bothering to know who is watching. Life goes on,
