Welcome
to my picture post ! – a close-up of a Cow at Marina beach .. .. calling loudly
– ‘mmaaaa!’ (amma) and is that teary eyed – or simply moist !!!
Sakthi an orphan, lives singing devotional hymns for the temple idol. He becomes blind in an accident. Ponni gleefully hears him singing at the temple and falls in love with him. Ponni's mother Vadivukarasi wants her to marry Radharavi, her relation who had come from Singapore. Ponni is not willing to marry Radharavi. Yet another love story ! - guess which film !!
Cows communicate
with each other using a range of sounds, such as mooing, lowing, and bellowing.
They use these sounds to let other cows know where they are, call them to come
closer, or express frustration, fear, or other emotions. Cows may make a low,
grumbling noise when they are hungry and looking for food.
அம்மா அழகே உலகின் ஒளியே !
என் சங்கீதம் உன் கீதமே
உனை நான் அழைத்தால் - விழியில் மழையே
ஆகாயம் என் பாட்டில் அசைகின்றது;
என் சங்கீதம் பொய் என்று யார் சொன்னது
கனவுகளே வழிவிடுங்கள்; கலைமகளை வரவிடுங்கள்; மலரில் உறங்கும் பூங்காற்று
அதனை எழுப்பும் என் பாட்டு;
.. . … ஓடும் நிலாவே ஓளி தீபம் ஏற்று
Lovely song from movie Kadhal Oviyam, released in 1982, directed by Barathiraja, starring Kannan (his only major appearance); heroine Radha. This song of Isaignani Illayaraja was sung by SP Balasubramaniam. The film was a musical hit but bombed at box office, with critics calling it the "biggest disappointment of the year" and criticised the plot as an unsuccessful amalgamation of Siri Siri Muvva (1976) and Sankarabharanam (1980).
Miles away, First Cow as an American directed by Kelly Reichardt, from a screenplay
by Reichardt and Jonathan Raymond based on Raymond's 2004 novel The Half-Life.
It starred John Magaro, Orion Lee, Toby Jones, Ewen Bremner, Scott Shepherd and
had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in Aug, 2019. It was selected to compete for the Golden
Bear in the main competition section at the 70th Berlin International Film
Festival. It won Best Film at the 2020
New York Film Critics Circle Awards, and
was named one of the ten best films of 2020 by the National Board of Review.
There was some interesting
comments on whether ‘last cow’ could have been more appropriate than
“First Cow”. The prized cow named Evie
in the film is more than a companion. The cow had lost her mate as well as her
calf, both died during her journey to Oregon. This made her the only cow in the
territory.
Interesting !
