hottest” - the city lies near the thermal equator and is also coastal, which
prevents extreme variation in seasonal temperature.

Muthuvel Pandian is a
retired police officer living in Tamil Nadu with his family. Muthuvel's son,
ACP Arjun, is investigating Varman, an eccentric gangster operating from his

overseas. While getting close to nabbing Varman, Arjun suddenly goes missing,
and the police department covers this up by spreading word that he may have

பருந்து, பறவை வகுப்பைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு ஊனுண்ணி ஆகும். இவற்றிற்கு நீண்ட சிறகுகளும்
பலம் குறைந்த கால்களும் அமைந்திருக்கும். இவ்வகுப்பில் உள்ள இனப்பறவைகள் பெரும்பாலும்
உயிரற்ற விலங்குகளையே உணவாக்கிக் கொள்கின்றன.
There are many – Hawks, Vultures, Falcons,
Eagles and more .. .. perhaps ‘black kite’ is
what we call as பருந்து. The
black kite (Milvus migrans) is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family
Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors. It is thought to
be the world's most abundant species of Accipitridae, although some populations
have experienced dramatic declines or fluctuations. The black kite was
described by the French polymath Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon in his
Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux in 1770.
For urban wildlife, adaptability is the key to survival. On
one end, several animals are now accustomed to cityscapes and can derive their
needs from the urban environment. However, the ever-growing, dynamic cities
have also brought unpleasant challenges that need urgent redressal. Black
Kites have become urban city dwellers and are well settled in building tops,
tree tops and the like. Spread across Europe, Africa, Australia and
Asia, this highly opportunistic bird owes its diverse range to a flexible diet,
and the ability to thrive in both natural and concrete jungles. They find their
vantage points on the tops of trees and towers.
Once active hunters,
Indian black kites have increasingly taken to scavenging carrion and
ready-to-eat scraps. A large number of them hover over garbage dumps. Expanding urban
settlements have resulted in the decline of their original prey base, thereby
modifying the diet of black kites. While
they are said to soar high in the sky – it is not easy - black
kites impressively soar up to high altitudes, such extreme heights also
render them vulnerable to the sun during tropical summers. They frequently
collapse from heatstrokes while making a descent in search of prey and water
sources !!

is great entertainment and keeps throwing newer stars !! yesterday at Chepauk, Royal Challengers
Bengaluru (RCB) ended their Chennai jinx in style, beating Chennai Super Kings
(CSK) there got the first time since the first IPL - by a whopping 50 runs,
CSK's biggest defeat at home. Thousands who
had gathered went home with a remorse melancholy.
I have been watching Cricket for more than 50 years now – it is
not simply IPL/ T20I, ODI, Test – but First division league matches, Buchi Babu
trophy, Ranji, Duleep, Irani, Syed Mushtaq Ali, matches against visiting
teams, un-official tests, MJ Gopalan
trophy, beach Cricket and some office matches including Blue Star. Cricket
is not all about Sixers ! – there were times when an entire Series would have less
than handful of Sixers hit. I am not going to lament on a single loss of
CSK – in Cricket such things happen. CSK
has won many titles, have lost many matches as well. Yet,
the way the match was played by CSK, the meek surrender, going down without a
fight and .. .. the crowds waiting for one thing !! hurt a Cricket Connoisseur.

the very famous poem of Alfred Lord Tennyson- "Morte d'Arthur" - a third-person narrator tells the story of
the dying King Arthur, after the final battle, where all but one of the Knights
of the Round Table are killed. Arthur, mortally wounded, is borne by the last
surviving knight, Sir Bedivere, to a ruined chapel near a lake.
Arthur
tells Bedivere there will never be another place as great as Camelot. Arthur says he is so badly wounded that he will not
last till the morning, so he asks Bedivere to take his sword, Excalibur, throw
it into the middle of the lake, and watch what happens. (Years before, Arthur
had obtained the sword from a white silk-clad arm holding it out of a lake.)
Bedivere doesn't want to leave Arthur alone, but he obeys.
One stanza of Tennyson's Poem would read :

MSD is not a name, it is an emotion !! – MS Dhoni is a true legend. A phenomenal rise from a rural place, cemented himself and led India with fame in all formats and .. .. .. retired so suddenly with people – why now !
In present IPL, couple days back Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad Lakanwal, who was not born when MSD made his ODI debut –was delighted as he beat Suryakumar Yadav and saw MSD effecting a lightning stumping. Yesterday, Phil Salt understood how silly it is for within a fraction MSD made a fast handed stumping. Salt had just lifted his toes, front foot was on the line as he missed a drive off a length ball angling way on top of fifth stump. Dhoni didn't move his knees, which is when his superpower is unleashed. The time between the ball being caught and swooshed onto the stumps - remarkable reflexes and Salt - who probably didn't lift his foot even a centimetre - was out !! Dhoni magic !!
Yesterday CSK lost, RCB ended their Chennai jinx in style, beating CKS, first time since the first IPL - by a whopping 50 runs. CSK's biggest defeat at home was not hurting but the intent was missing and CSK threw the towel much much before. The contest was so dead that more than half of CSK's chase was all about finding out if and when MS Dhoni would bat. He eventually did so at No. 9, only for the second time in his career.
We
need teams to fight it out – one can lose by 50 or even 100 runs but not the
way CSK did yesterday. MSD might have hit a couple of huge ones but no team can
afford to have a wicket-keeper walking into bat at 9 and play out when the
match is all over, and only the difference in loss is being counted !!
Dhoni did not tease his fans by batting after Jadeja, Ashwin and everyone – he made them cry. For once the blade coming down in an arc and sending the ball parabolic over the boundary long and high off Krunal Pandya – not once but twice was not relished.
King
MSD – you are remembered for your batting exploits, quick work behind the
stumps, your Cricketing acumen, your astute leadership. This is no Cinema where fans wait for climax !! If your presence is not meaningful for the
time, may be Vansh Bedi plays, loss of CSK may not hurt as bad !!

The Brahminy kite (Haliastur indus), also known as the red-backed sea-eagle in
Australia, is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which
also includes many other diurnal raptors, such as eagles, buzzards, and
harriers. They are found in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and
Australia. Adults have a reddish-brown body plumage contrasting with their
white head and breast which make them easy to distinguish from other birds of
prey.
In 1760, French zoologist
Mathurin Jacques Brisson described and illustrated the Brahminy kite in the
first volume of his Oiseaux based on a specimen collected in Pondicherry,
India. He used the French name L'aigle de Pondichery. In 1783
the Dutch naturalist Pieter Boddaert coined the binomial name Falco indus in
his catalogue of the Planches Enluminées. The brahminy kite is now placed with
the whistling kite in the genus Haliastur.
Bald eagle is somewhat similar in looks but would be much bigger in frame and are found in North America, not here. The bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for nesting.

Hi Chennaites ! - how are you ? – yesterday and today, I felt it was very hot outside and energy sapping. Today's minimum temperature in Chennai is recorded at 25°c (degrees celsius), and the maximum temperature is expected to go as high as 34°c - but it felt much more.
Earlier
on Mar 6 – an unusual heatwave like condition prevailed in Chennai with a
temperature of 4.3 degree Celsius above normal. On March 6, the Meenambakkam
weather station near Chennai airport recorded 37.7 C, which is the hottest day
of 2025 so far.

Miles away, in USA - International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand, was formed in 1966 for the purpose of coordinating the activities of the various Societies for Surgery of the Hand throughout the world and in this way to increase and spread knowledge of surgery of the hand.
Its 16th Triennial Congress is underway at Washington DC, USA - Hosted by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society of Hand Therapists, and American Association for Hand Surgery, the 2025 IFSSH and IFSHT Triennial Congressthe meeting is being held in the capital of the United States of America. Washington, D.C .
Traditionally during the Congresses of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand, a number of “Pioneers of Hand Surgery” are acknowledged. This is a long standing custom dating back to the 3rd Congress in Tokyo held in 1986. Since then, 243 physicians have been designated the prestigious title of “Pioneer of Hand Surgery”. To this number, 41 more are added this year. The IFSSH awards "Pioneer of Hand Surgery" status to any person who excels exceptionally, beyond what is normally expected in the field of hand surgery.
The enormous
contribution of the Pioneers to Hand Surgery will influence many generations of
Hand Surgeons to come. Ultimately of course, their accomplishments will benefit
countless patients far into the future. The IFSSH Membership therefore,
expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to our Pioneers for enriching
our passion, Hand Surgery. A Committee of highly distinguished
Professionals choose the Pioneers who receive the award at the Opening Ceremony of
the next Federation Congress.

The man born on 3rd Feb 1949, qualified as a Plastic Surgeon in 1980 from Stanley Medical College, Chennai and underwent further training in Hand and Microsurgery (Prof. Pho) from National University Hospital, Singapore, Chang Gung Hospital, Taiwan, and Dallas Craniofacial Center in USA. In 2014 he obtained a post graduate Diploma in Hospital and Healthcare management
He was the one of
the two first trainees in Plastic Surgery from Stanely Medical College, Chennai
(1978 batch) which was developing into a major Hand Injury centre of the
region. Part of the team which evolved protocols for massive number of hand
injuries that they had to manage every day ( 30 to 35 hand injuries every day).
Microsurgery was only then coming into practice in India and he assisted the
first documented successful thumb replant of the region in 1982.
Extremely
elated to know that Dr. K Sridhar has been awarded the "Pioneer of Hand
Surgery" award in Washington D.C., by the international society of Hand
Surgeons. It's the equivalent of a "lifetime
achievement award" for half a century of tireless, incredibly dedicated
work. (photo as it appears on the pioneer booklet of the Federation and a short
video as shared by his son.
Known for his kind
heart and calm disposition, he is extremely dedicated to social service and has
been instrumental in the running of Kanchi Sankara Foundation which manages
hospitals for the poor. It was through his
guidance and continuous motivation that SYMA launched itself into serving the
poor with medical services. Our SYMA
medical centre initially functioned as a unit of KSF actively guided by Dr
Sridhar and his wife Mrs Pankajam Sridhar, fondly known as Madam Subha.

The 2018 Australian ball-tampering scandal, also known as Sandpapergate, was a cricket cheating scandal surrounding the Australian national cricket team. In March 2018, during the third Test match against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town, Cameron Bancroft was caught by television cameras trying to rough up one side of the ball with sandpaper to make it swing in flight. Captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner were found to be involved and all three received sanctions from Cricket Australia, lighter punishments and got away easily. .
The man - Petrus Stephanus de Villiers (Fanie de Villiers), a frail looking medium pacer play for South Africa. In 18 tests he took 85 wickets and in 83 one dayers he took 95 wickets at a good economy rate.

Spotted a beautiful ‘White Peacock’ – yes peacock not in Indian Blue but White - it is rare !! White peafowls are Indian Blue Peafowls (Pavo cristatus) with a rare genetic mutation called leucism. If the parents both display traditional colouration, the odds of their offspring being leucistic are one in four. If both display leucistic coloration, the condition would certainly be passed down.
Contrary to popular opinion White Peafowl are a colour mutation of the Indian Blue Peafowl, not albinos. The lack of colour in the White Peafowls feathers is determined by pigment and structure. With White Peafowl their unusual lack of colour is due to a missing pigment. The missing pigment is dark and interferes with light. The birds are completely white with blue seeing eyes. Both the male and female White Peafowl are very similar until they are 12 months old. Then it becomes easier to distinguish the male as the peacock has slightly longer legs than the peahen. The peacock also develops slightly longer feathery tail coverts at about 12 to 14 months. The peacock is also slightly larger build than the white peahen.
